Need hel re tipping.....asap!

Do you tip the guys who shampoo your carpet???? I never did but now I'm wondering. Yeah, they are here now!

I do, if they do a great job.

I tipped $10 each to 2 guys, but I tip a lot and other posters disagree with me!

Did they move large pieces of furniture out of the way? Will they be putting it back into place to your satisfaction?

If yes, I would give them a tip.

I'm probably too late, but I see you gave them a nice tip. My son used to work for a carpet cleaning service and they really appreciate tips. Most of them work really hard and it's not an easy job.

Same here. We had some landscaping done in May and it was a 2 day job with 4 workers. We gave each one of them $10. When we handed them the money, they were all shocked and said very seldom do they ever get a tip.

If they do a good job and don't take more breaks than needed, we always tip. We also supplied them with ice cold water while working here in the hot weather.

I have never tipped, never even thought about it, just asked my co-workers we must be a cheap bunch no one tips

Nope, no tip. I think of carpet cleaners as professional staff, not service staff. I did give them a bottle of water when they finished, tho.

yes, i do.....usually 10 each for carpet cleaning.

we also have a refrigerator/freezer that i stock with sodas, juices, and waters.....i always tell anyone working in or outside of our home to help themselves to a drink.

The teller @ the Bank did a good job....why wasn't she tipped? . What about tipping my dental hygienist when she did a good job cleaning my teeth? This whole tipping thing is so out of control.

You give me good service. I reward you with money. So simple.

Though....reading this, it kinda sounds dirty! Where's Brew to comment??! =

No, it seems in some parts of the country people tip for everything. Thankfully, that is not the case here. I've never tipped anyone who does thing to my house or yard. They are not minimum wage earners and make an adequate salary.

Yes, I too thought tips were to help supplement a lower paying service job......or maybe for someone who went wayyyyy.out of their way to help.

if you dont want to tip, dont tip......but there is absolutely nothing wrong with giving someone a little extra because you want to, especially to those in a service or manual labor job.

I almost always tip for service at my home. The last time was when we had bedroom carpet installed. The two guys almost fell on their little faces and said that they rarely, if ever, get tipped. One of the guys even said that someone had them do extra work ("as long as you're here") in a closet in another room and they weren't offered anything extra. That's ba**sy, IMO. We are far from rich or upper class, but do live comfortably and I enjoy helping others.

like some others, I tend to tip a lot---when guys deliver furniture, I tip each one 15.00 or other house things----right now a guy is painting our house but we got him through Angie's list---after the initial amount, Mr S contracted for him for a certain amount----we won't tip him
