Chinese boy can't hear his cartoons so.............

he goes and cuts high-rise worker's safety rope!

A worker was installing lighting on the outside of a high-rise apartment building when a boy appeared at an eighth-floor window and began sawing through the worker's safety rope. Apparently, the construction racket was drowning out the kid's cartoons, and he decided this would be an effective way to restore some silence.

"I shouted at him to stop, but he didn't listen and soon after, the rope was broken," the worker told Chinese new outlet Xinhua. "That's when I called to my workmate for help."

Forty minutes later, several firemen rescued the worker from his precarious position. Police questioned the boy, who eventually admitted to his actions. The kid's dad came home and apologized to the worker.

I agree with Preds. It's really beyond belief what kids today will do. Absolutely no respect for anything or anyone including life itself. What a sad situation.

Well this isn't normal behavior for a child so maybe he needs to be looked at more closely. The fact that his father apologized and gave the workers a new safety rope and that was the end of the matter is more concerning to me. They were in China so maybe this is how these things are handled.

I just have to chime in and agree with you on this.

I think a lot of us were raised in a "children are seen and not heard" kind of environment. Maybe not as strict as our parents were, but we were taught to respect adults and that children were secondary. It did not do a lot to raise self esteem.

In our desire to do better by our children and build their self confidence, I believe we went too far the other way. We (at least some of us) have raised a generation that thinks the whole world revolves round them. JMO/YMMV

how old was he.....if he is watching cartoons....probably young....then why was he home alone....

There may be children that this applies to but this child is in China.

There may be children that this applies to but this child is in China.

That is troubling. I thought Chinese children were raised in an extremely strict environment. This child obviously did not care about anything but his own needs.

Yikes! If this is how this kid acts when he can't hear his cartoons, how does he act if he doesn't get ice cream?
