On 8/30/2014 Jannabelle said:
On 8/29/2014 dooBdoo said:
I'm not inclined to start new threads, but if I do I try to return and answer questions, add clarification or thank others for posting. I agree, it's hard not to be at least a wee bit frustrated if we try to offer help (sometimes even do some research and share it) and the OP never returns. Happens to me all the time, and I'm often the last poster on threads which move down the page and quietly disappear into cybersleep. I've decided it means all is well and the OP is doing fine.

I also understand the feeling of not wanting to pop a thread back to the top of the list just to add a comment after being away for a few days. No perfection in etiquette here. I think everyone does the best they can, and sometimes everyday life causes us to forget or to fail to follow up.

(Hi, sylvia!)

Hi, DooBdoo.......I am not sure why people feel funny about replying to a thread they started a few days prior.....as long as it is going well.....I like to read updates on informative threads so what am I missing here? ......thanks! : )

Hi, Jannabelle, wishing you a happy start to the holiday weekend!

In my case, I sometimes feel as though it seems I'm trying to get my thread back to the top. A "bump up" to get attention. I don't want to do that, because it can be annoying to others, so if it's been a while since I was here and the thread is older I read but don't add new responses.

Maybe I'm being silly -- as people always tell us, they can just ignore a thread if they're no longer interested and it will fall back down the page on its own.

I would say that 99% of the time I would probably reply to threads I've started but so far I haven't replied to the 'pet friendly college' thread. I do read it though. It was a topic I found interesting but I don't really have much to add.

It depends on how the thread evolves. When I start a thread, I try and converse with those who respond to my post. Many folks don't respond to the original post, they respond to another responder, and many times that response is something dragged over from another thread or a dispute from years back! At that point, more often than not I give up and move on.

I think when you start a thread that you should always go back and reply. So many times someone will ask a question then never returns.

What if someone calls you on the phone, leaves a message to call them but you never call them back.

I'm sure sometimes people may forget but they can check their activity.
