On 8/26/2014 SoftRaindrops said:
On 8/26/2014 kittymomNC said:
I agree, it would be nice if they would have some "standard" policy and make it known. I've just always done that since I was told it was okay. Sometimes the return label has on it how many pounds it covers, so if I have something heavier like a coat, I might return it separately, or if I have a $6.95 and an $8.95 label, I'll use the $8.95 label --I feel like I should because I wouldn't want a problem with the label somehow not covering what I send. Mine is usually for clothing--I seldom buy anything else. I used to buy jewelry on occasion.

After having to return a coat because it was actually piling in storage, I realized I had thrown out the box. I ended up giving it to Good Will because I was just too lazy to return it. I bet they count on that kind of thing too.

Thanks for the info about the label. I am trying to cut back on my Q clothing purchases, though, because I am having trouble with inconsistency in sizing.

In April I bought a D&Co top in Small and had to return for Medium...I bought a couple of D&Co tops in May in Medium, had to return for Small, had bought several others in Small, so now I never know which size to buy, even though I check the "Click here" measurements. I stopped buying jeans totally because of sizing. But today I broke down and ordered the D&Co Jeggings - I'm probably going to regret that...but I have several pairs of really cute boots that I want to be able to tuck my jeans into, so we'll see. Pretty much what I buy now are new colors of something that I know already fits, and hope they haven't changed it!

It's probably just me, but receiving that dreaded you returned too much letter that everyone talks about just took the 'sail' out of buying from the Q.

I didn't stop entirely but I have slowed tremendously. I can't remember the last time I have gone a whole month without a purchase. I am more apt to look elsewhere than risk the chance something won't fit or be defective so I just don't order.

I wonder how many others have made a conscious effort not to buy after they have received the letter. I know it's just a reminder to think twice before ordering but it has made me think twice that I really don't want to risk anymore returns.

I know they don't miss me, there are plenty of other people who have "made up" for my lack of buying.

One way to avoid the letter is to buy a tried and true item with an unknown item. That way it will offset your returns. For example, a tube of your favorite lipstick along with a pair of pants you don't have the slightest idea if they'll fit.

It's funny,I never seem to return anything I purchase from HSN or SHOPHQ. Only QVC. I have had to return the last 5 clothing items for being too big. Not sure if they are changing their sizing or what. I always check the click here for measurements, but everything seems to fall off my shoulders. Guess I'll have to shop the malls where I can try before I buy.

I have never received 'the letter'. I haven't bought much from the Q as the quality is not the best. I like quality and value for my dollar. I do return things in great condition so maybe that is one small factor. As always, if a few are abusing the buy/return policy, everyone pays.

I think I heard that you get the letter if you return 40% of what you buy. If I had to return over 40% of my purchases, I wouldn't need any letter to stop buying from that retailer. I'd stop on my own and go where I was more satisfied.

I'm sure QVC hopes that people who get "the letter" start paying more attention to what they are buying or just go away all together. If you buy less after receiving "the letter", it has served it's purpose. Personally, I don't understand why people continue to shop when they obviously aren't satisfied by the QVC shopping experience. If your percentage of returns is so high that you fall into the dreaded "letter" category; this method of shopping just isn't working for you. Or perhaps it doesn't work for one or two specific categories. I have a friend who buys everything except clothes from shopping channels because she just can't get the sizing correct. So she stopped trying. I have great luck with clothing, shoes, bags etc etc but I don't order makeup, skincare, scented bath products from shopping channels. I tried but after being disappointed so many times, I just accepted that I can't buy those things sight unseen, I have to see and smell those types of products before I purchase them.

I return my items the way they were received and in the same packaging. I think when you bundle the return items in one box to try to get away with not paying individual S&H, that's when the trouble starts.

I send things back in one package and have never had a problem. In the words of the CS rep, the other things can "ride along for free", and said it was fine to do that. That was in a situation where I had a defective item, but I also had a couple of other things to return. He said to use the label for the defective item so I wouldn't be charged shipping, and then said go ahead and include the others and made that remark. So I don't consider it "trying to get away with it" since CS said to do it. But they have to be going to the same address and be like items.

Several years ago, I bought 4 pair of White Mountain shoes. The sizing was way off for me. I called and asked if I could return them in one box and was told I could not. I returned them individually at a cost of about $25.00 and promptly complained on these boards about it.

I got a call from Corporate asking about the problem and I explained I only wanted to return the shoes in one box. Next thing I knew, the White Mountain guy called me, my money was refunded and I was sent about 8 pair of shoes. Only one or two pair fit, but I managed to give the rest away to people who could use them.

Management does read these boards or they have someone who does it for them.

I was told each package needed to have a separate label and never to bundle anything. This was a return for clothing. I wish there was something posted, somewhere so that we knew what the policy was.

I am trying to cut back on my Q clothing purchases, though, because I am having trouble with inconsistency in sizing.
