Ice Bucket Challenge - this is the must see version

It doesn't seem silly to him

What a truly touching video.

The hospital that I work in has a monthly ALS Support Group meeting. They meet in the lecture room down the hall from my office. When I leave at 2p, I see the afflicted and family members coming down a very long hall to the lecture room. Several will be in motorized wheel chairs.

It is very hard to see them and know what lies in their future.

It was very sad to hear this young man exclaim that ALS is not a "profitable" disease.

i would say the ice bucket challenge has been a success. a few accidents but a success when it is all said and done.

A huge success. My neighbor passed away in January leaving a 15 year old son, and my ex BIL's son was given two years to live two years ago, so he's not doing well.

Thanks B. Now we are getting back to the true mission of this campaign. It cuts to the quick for me and the growing number of lives impacted by ALS.

Yes, and he is so grateful for this challenge - he knows it brings awareness. It was so heart-wrenching to watch this - that was his mom in that video, btw

I hope more people have watched this than have commented here.

I've seen that video and it's so tragic. I hope the next generation of ALS patients will get to take advantage of a cure because of what this generation did to raise awareness.

Gee wiz what a sad video made me tear up.I was reading a lot of the comments there were a few saying something about Lyme disease being the culprit any one know about this?I think i am going to google more info.I find this disease to be the worst anyone can have.Like someone said they can spend billions going into space but can't or won't do anything for ALS.

That's a powerful video, thanks for posting. People need to see this, as little was known about ALS until the Ice Challenge took off.

As a friend of a person diagnosed with ALS last fall I am glad this young man made this touching video. He and so many others like him are the reason we are doing the Ice Bucket Challenge, and who better than someone who is living it day by day can be the best advocate to get the word out. My friend researched his family background and there are no known relatives who were diagnosed with ALS. It doesn't run just in families. It can hit anyone at anytime. I am pleased this challenge has placed so much focus on ALS.

I saw this video on Ellen's (DeGeneres) Facebook page. She said she would take his challenge if he came on her season opener on 9/8...I hope he does, I would like to see more of him and hear more of his story.

He said that only 30k have ALS, is that correct? The reason I ask is because I personally know 2 people, and that seems odd that I would know 2 out of 30k.

2, 30k, who cares...1 is too many as far as I am concerned.

Horrible disease. Horrible.
