The proposed contract would blow Durant's deal with the Thunder out of the water.

Under Armour is making a strong push to get the NBA's reigning MVP out of his endorsement deal with Nike. Kevin Durant has been offered $265 million to $285 million over 10 years by Under Armour, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell. Nike has the option of matching Under Armour's offer, a term written into Durant's original endorsement deal with the company.

The offer to Durant would be nearly 10 percent of Under Armour's annual budget and the largest sponsorship deal the company has ever committed to. Nike reportedly made $175 million off Durant-related products last season as the 25-year-old forward won his first MVP award and led the league in scoring for the fourth time.

The average salary of $26.5 million to $28.5 million per year would dwarf Durant's maximum contract with the Thunder, where he's scheduled to make $41.2 million over the next two years before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2016. Under Armour is based in Baltimore, just 36 miles away from Durant's hometown of Seat Pleasant, Md.

Nike's last offer to Durant would have netted him at least $20 million per year, according to Rovell. By all accounts, Durant's defection to Roc Nation Sports last year has raised the stakes for his endorsement deal.

Nike made BILLIONS with the Air Jordan sneakers.

My son & his friends had to have them.

These deals may seem crazy, but it could bring in 200 million a year plus for the company.

Jessica Simpson's fashion lines gross almost a BILLION a year - giving this star 25 million a year isn't out of line, IMO.

Well, someones going to get it, so it might as well be him! Ridiculous amounts of money for endorsements. Somebody pay me and I'll endorse something. I won't even be greedy about it!

Under Armour is one of THE hot brands right now, especially with teens.

What are some of you upset about? He's not the only athlete to cash in on his success. It should come as no surprise considering how sports/celebrity obsessed our country has become.

Love Under Armour. The guy who started the company is a real go getter. It's one if the hottest brands right now. That is an insane amount of money though

Payton Manning $10MM/yr

Rodger Federer $45MM/yr

so, I guess $265 million to $285 million over 10 years is pretty much standard.

They are doing Notre Dame's uniforms now. It was a huge endorsement.

The bookstore put the previous maker's (Adidas) leftover merchandise on clearance.

Under Armour beat out Nike for the contract. The fact that every Notre Dame game is on national TV is big for Under Armour.

Couldn't tell you. It's a successful company, started out of the guy's grandmother's basement in DC; they employ several thousand people, they are a huge supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project.
