Doc who had EBOLA to be released today

Apparently Dr. Brantly is being released from Emory today. That's really good news. Hopefully it will quell the fears people had about bringing him and the nurse home. What do you think?

They're going to have a press conference today.

Yes it's good news. But the outbreak isn't being contained. The countries impacted are suffering shortages of fuel, food and basic supplies because airlines and shipping companies have stopped services to the areas. MSF and WHO said they desperately need medical staff on the ground. The situation is very grim.

An interesting parallel to what is happening here, "Ebola Task Force Officers" are now being used to quarantine the poorest of the neighborhoods in Liberia. These armed officers wearing protective armor and face shields shot live rounds into crowds of protestors and threw tear gas to disperse them.

It's uplifting and encouraging! I'm so happy for him, his family, and his co-workers. It has to give them a sign of hope for others.

Oh, that's terrible. I did hear that one of the "hospitals" in Africa was ransacked and mattresses stolen because people didn't want the Ebola treatment center in their neighborhood.

I think it's wonderful that he has recovered enough to leave the hospital. For all those who were so up in arms about bringing these two home to their own country for treatment, this proves that American medical resources are some of the best in the world!

WE NOW HAVE A POSSIBLE CASE HERE IN SACRAMENTO, CAL. He is in Kaiser hospital and they are not giving out Much info. In quarantine and They said it would take a few days to found results, but he has all the symptoms. He recently traveled West Africa. How many people did he come in contact with?

From CNN about the possible case in CA:

The unidentified patient is being isolated in a "specially equipped negative pressure room" at the Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center. Trained staff are using protective equipment, coordinated with infectious disease specialists, to provide care for the patient, said Dr. Stephen M. Parodi, director of hospital operations at Kaiser Permanente Northern California, in a statement.

The patient is considered "low-risk" and tests are being conducted out of "an abundance of caution," the California Department of Public Health said. There are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in the state, the agency said.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be testing the patient's blood samples to determine whether the Ebola virus is present. All necessary precautions are being taken to safeguard other patients and staff, the hospital said.

No further information about the patient has been released.
