MBR and Linda Davies did it - the video is on the blogs - they challenged Angel Smedley, the Susan Graver team and Carolyn Gracie. I never heard that any of them did it.

I read that:The National ALS Association has received $1.35 million in donations in the past two weeks. That same period last year–it was $22,000.

This is an awful disease.

Dumping a bucket of icy water over your head is a shock to your system cannot be healthy. I think it's a dangerous way to show support. The challenge is a bucket of ice water over your head and a small donation. The forfeit is a larger sum.

My 65 year old husband participated the other day and said it wasn't bad at all. Unlike football coaches who are surprised with huge containers of ice cold liquids in freezing cold weather, here the participants are well aware what is about to happen.

I don't think anyone has died as yet, for heaven's sake. Ethyl kennedy did it and she is pretty old.

Heard that on our news. The silly game will help fund research and support now that it's raising so much money. Cheers and kudos.

...but the donations that go along with the stunt will help find a cure for this terrible disease.

ALS is a horrible disease that robs a person of their physical and mental abilities in a short period of time. We have a good friend who was diagnosed with ALS last fall. One of his first symptoms was severe muscle weakness in the right arm and hand. He now has very little use of that arm (supports arm/hand with left hand) and physical disabilities have manifested in other areas of his body. He can still communicate but it takes him a long time to form his thoughts. He has lost a fair amount of weight as well.

There is no history of ALS in his family and the doctors do not know why he was stricken with it. He did get a second opinion in a large medical center and they agreed with the initial diagnosis. He is on medications they hope will control the progression of the disease. Meanwhile, he and his family wait. .....

This is due to loss of muscle mass. They should be checking for genetic mutations such as MATR3.
