Anyone do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?

It was started here in Boston by a former BC baseball star, Peter Frates, who has been diagnosed with ALS at the age of 29, to promote awareness for this devastating disease. (He was diagnosed in 2012 and is now confined to a wheelchair and is unable to speak) It seems to be spreading Nationwide now thanks to Facebook and other Social Media.

I was challenged by a neighbor, so doused myself with ice water this morning and then sent in my donation to my friend's foundation started in honor of her husband who died of ALS last year ay age 60.

Anyone else participating?

No. But I did donate to a high-school friend's page. He has ALS and raises money for it. No ice water needed.

I just saw the Kennedy family take the challenge...Ethel was last - she was a good sport!

My cousin died of this horrible disease...it's great to see the awareness and donations flowing in.

I did not do it. Went to a fund raiser Fri night lots of people took the challenge. They raised 5600$.

I'd do it but I'd probably opt to cheat a bit and use warm water. Of course I would donate as well. It's a wonderful cause and it's so much fun to see athletes, celebs, and everyday people take the challenge.

This challenge is going around my husband's office. (one of the nurse's husband has been recently diagnosed with ALS) He will be iced later today. I wish I could be there to see it.

To my mind, ALS is worst disease. Sadly there's just never a miracle.

Loved watching our local newscasters getting doused for such a worthy cause..those that did not, donated..didn't even realize it was a nationwide movement!!!!

I groaned when I got nominated on Facebook a few days ago.... But it turned out to be really fun! And I'm sure the friends I called out were none too happy with me either. But their videos are funny as you know what. A great way to raise awareness as well as money for a very worthy cause.

I know Justin Timberlake did it yesterday (or the day before) and called out Jimmy Fallon and the whole Tonight Show crew. The Morning Show folks on NBC and CBS have done it, too. Boston's Mayor, Red Sox, Patriots, police and fire departments have all joined in.

The head of the local fundraising group said that last year in July and August they brought in a few thousand dollars but this year they have topped 1.3 million for the same period of time. Funny how such a crazy idea can catch on.

Nancy Grace posted her challenge today. She wore a rain poncho & goggles. Also used water instead of ice. Just pay the $100 Nancy.
