Comedic actor Robin Williams died at his Northern California home Monday, law enforcement officials said. Williams was 63.

Investigators suspect "the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia," according to a statement from the Marin County, California, sheriff's office.

so sad - I will never forget the first time I saw him as Mork - such a genius.

I loved him as Mork and was delighted when he came back to the small screen last season. So young, oh gosh suicide? I don't know if his show was picked up or not and hope that wasn't what drove him to it.

Whether he was your cup of tea or not, there is really no one like him before or since. His rapid fire wit and facial/body expressions are beyond compare.

RIP Robin. Sending prayers to his family.

So sad. I believe he has been battling depression for a very long time. Perhaps he just couldn't take the pain anymore.

Robin was so talented - he could play drama as well as comedy.

'What Dreams May Come'

He committed suicide and I am puzzled as to why. I know in the 70's he was dealing with recreational drug addiction. He was a very talented actor.

I agree gazelle! The Birdcage is one of my all time favorites of his movies. I'm so sad, I feel like I lost someone I grew up with.

I feel as if a bright light in our world has gone out. I am VERY saddened by his death. Addiction is such a horrible thing and I'm so sorry that his battle with it wasn't successful.

He was very talented for sure. I really liked the movie Awakenings that he did with Robert DeNiro. Very sad and shocking. I feel sad for his children.
