Shine a little brighter today because someone needs your light. Lord, may I
reflect You like sun hitting a mirror.

Scripture for the Day
"My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." — Psalm 121:2

Meditation for the Day
I can believe that God has all power. It is God's to give. God does not
withhold power from those who seek God and dwell near God. It is breathed in
by the person who lives in God's presence. I can learn to live in God's
presence and then I will have those things which I desire of God: strength,
power and joy. God's power is available to all who need it and are willing
to accept it.

Prayer for the Day
I pray that I may get myself out of the way, so that God's power may flow
in. I pray that I may surrender myself to God's power.

Greetings my friends! Hope your day went well. Today I was blessed with
half of my Christmas Gift from Lori - Gift Certificate for six hours of
housecleaning. I was asked if I wanted it divided into two days and I did,
so he'll finish when I call again. He, yes, he's a 37 year old man who's
been doing this house cleaning for 10 years!! A very nice man, nice to visit
with too. He made my kitchen sparkle! Washed all the cupboards off
scrubbed kitchen floor on hands and knees. I can only use the mop. Lori
came for lunch - I made a chicken soup last night before I went to bed so we
had that and then she took me shopping for groceries. She is truly a
blessing!! Talked to both Darla today and Linus - in Texas - another
blessing! I am also blessed by not being lonely being I'm alone this week.
I have Our Lord with me always forever and ever Who never leaves me!! His
Mother is with me also, plus friends and family. The phone is a blessing -
so is this computer!!

Homily of the Day

April 27, 2011

He´ll Help You Remember
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Acts 3:1-10 / Lk 24:13-35

There’s something thrilling about attending a wedding, a baptism, or a
graduation. All of life’s possibilities seem stretched out before us, and
most of their costs are still hidden from view. It’s so much like the
beginning of a summer day: soft breezes, sweet smells, lush lawns and
flowers. And then before you know it, it’s fall and time to prepare for the
siege of winter.

If we’re working hard to be faithful to God and to one another, to do our
best and to share our gifts, we get tired. And sometimes after a while,
things that used to be easy and even a joy become a burden instead.
Somewhere along the line, we lose the joy and we find ourselves echoing
those two apostles in today’s gospel, “We used to hope,” but not anymore.

How does that happen? Is it simply a matter of working too hard and getting
tired? Not really. The real problem is losing our vision, our sense of
purpose, which can come only from a trust-connection with the Lord.

If you find yourself burning out and finding life burdensome, spend some
time renewing your vision and remembering where you’re going. And the only
place to do that is in his presence. He’ll help you remember, and he’ll
give you back your joy.

Meditation on Easter Wednesday
Readings: Acts 3:1-10; Luke 24:13-35

Wholesome joy is profitable for both our spirit and our health.

Another way of saying this might be that laughter is good for the heart and
for the digestion. But joy and laughter are by no means the same and
laughter can be in fact quite harmful. So what is this "joy"? I think it
goes beyond the physical or psychological and is an awareness that our life
is substantially on the right lines even though in the short run there are
still many problems. Perhaps it is an awareness that we can fail but God
cannot and, indeed, He will use our failure for our benefit. Perhaps it is
the same as the peace of a good conscience. How would you define joy and do
you experience it at least from time to time?

I met God in a seven-year-old girl
Father Patrick Bridgeman, diocesan priest
As the sun rises over St Mary's and into St Joseph's playground the presence
of God in the world is obvious. Ahead is a day with some time planned and
other time available for what will occur.

In the 17 months since ordination, I have realised that God's presence will
come in many varied forms. As I visit St Joseph's school I have met God
through the children.

Once during question time a boy asked me if it was lonely not having a wife
and children. Looking around at this class of bright- eyed seven-yearolds
the thought did enter my mind "Yes, sometimes it would be good to be Dad."

And then a girl spoke up : "Never be lonely Father Patrick, we are all your
children!" On a simple class visit, there I met God in a seven-year-old
girl.

Visits to the sick, in hospital and at home, are further times when God
makes his presence felt through the Eucharist or the oil of anointing. I
come to minister to those in need and yet it is always me who goes away
ministered to by those I came to visit through the examples of faith in
suffering and their hope in situations of despair. I am given examples of
how I could also be in the unexpected knock on the door and the person who
pours out their life to me, a person they have never met. I realise the
trust that has been placed in me; trust that the Church has placed in me,
one of her priests; trust that God has in me, in the lives and stories that
are entrusted to my confidence.

Each day the community gathers and breaks open the word and breaks the
bread. I meet God in this - the summit of our Christian life. The Eucharist
is when all the little meetings with God come together and there with us is:
"My Lord, and my God."

As the day darkens, the events of this day draw me to spare time alone with
the God I have met through the day, to spend time with the one who has given
me so much during this day. It may not always be like this. Some days I miss
God as he comes to meet me on the road of the day. Fears or distractions can
at time make me blind to his presence. In my daily life as a diocesan
priest, I am blest by the many meetings with God that occur. Meetings that
let me know that God is truly with us in each other in the happenings of the
day, in the sacraments that are celebrated and in our relationship of
prayer.

+ Jn 20:28

That First Easter

King of Kings", they shouted
As they hung him on the tree.
A crown of thorns upon His head,
Mocked, for all to see.
They cursed Him, spit on Him,
And pierced Him in the side.
They showed no love or mercy,
When our Lord they crucified

As He whispered, "Please, some water,"
They laughed some more with glee,
Instead they gave Him vinegar,
They were cruel as they could be.
He didn't call the Angels
To come and save Him then.
He knew He had to die
To save man from his sin.
As the hour came upon Him
He knew He soon would die.
The clouds began to roll
In a dark and ominous sky.

Instead of bringing wrath
And judgment on their heads,
He whispered, "Father, forgive them."
Then at long last He was dead.
They carried Him to a grave,
His life on earth was through,
On the third day He arose,
God's promise had come true.

I thank God for that Easter,
So very long ago,
He sent His son to die for all,
His love for us to show.
God had no other purpose
When His son died on that tree,
But to save man from his awful sin,
He died for you and me!

~ Louise P. Heckman ~

I asked Jesus "Lord, how much do you love me?"
Jesus spread his arms, and died

God's Road Map

I opened my map that God had left
Realized that I had missed my turn
Searched for the error I made
And God's voice I heard
He said rely on me my child and I'll direct your path
For the mistake you made was neither right nor left
I quizzed the words he said and turned the page
There I saw another lost and afraid
We both turned the next page and a note was left
God said, Do not fear for I haven't left
His words were comforting and true
But left me to ask, Did I leave you?
In His words I heard a smile
And He said you've gone the last mile
I looked at the map realizing my fate
The directions simple from state to state
Take my hand He said again
Without a second thought we placed our Faith in Him
Realizing the power we felt
We knelt to give Him Praise
And the final direction He gave
He said soft and sweet
You are done and have found the place
Where I have promised silver and gold
Reign with me and rest at home
For the Map you've used hast made thee whole
Continue to tell the journey you made
And the words you've heard
For the map you've used is simply God's Word!

IMPORTANT RECALL NOTICE
Author Unknown

Vital For Your Health and Well-being!

The maker of all human beings is recalling all units manufactured,
regardless of make or year, due to the serious defect in the primary
and central component or heart. Meetings that
let me know that God is truly with us in each other in the happenings of the
day, in the sacraments that are celebrated and in our relationship of
prayer.

+ Jn 20:28

That First Easter

King of Kings", they shouted
As they hung him on the tree.
A crown of thorns upon His head,
Mocked, for all to see.
They cursed Him, spit on Him,
And pierced Him in the side.
They showed no love or mercy,
When our Lord they crucified

As He whispered, "Please, some water,"
They laughed some more with glee,
Instead they gave Him vinegar,
They were cruel as they could be.
He didn't call the Angels
To come and save Him then.
He knew He had to die
To save man from his sin.
As the hour came upon Him
He knew He soon would die.
The clouds began to roll
In a dark and ominous sky.

Instead of bringing wrath
And judgment on their heads,
He whispered, "Father, forgive them."
Then at long last He was dead.
They carried Him to a grave,
His life on earth was through,
On the third day He arose,
God's promise had come true.

I thank God for that Easter,
So very long ago,
He sent His son to die for all,
His love for us to show.
God had no other purpose
When His son died on that tree,
But to save man from his awful sin,
He died for you and me!

~ Louise P. Heckman ~

I asked Jesus "Lord, how much do you love me?"
Jesus spread his arms, and died

God's Road Map

I opened my map that God had left
Realized that I had missed my turn
Searched for the error I made
And God's voice I heard
He said rely on me my child and I'll direct your path
For the mistake you made was neither right nor left
I quizzed the words he said and turned the page
There I saw another lost and afraid
We both turned the next page and a note was left
God said, Do not fear for I haven't left
His words were comforting and true
But left me to ask, Did I leave you?
In His words I heard a smile
And He said you've gone the last mile
I looked at the map realizing my fate
The directions simple from state to state
Take my hand He said again
Without a second thought we placed our Faith in Him
Realizing the power we felt
We knelt to give Him Praise
And the final direction He gave
He said soft and sweet
You are done and have found the place
Where I have promised silver and gold
Reign with me and rest at home
For the Map you've used hast made thee whole
Continue to tell the journey you made
And the words you've heard
For the map you've used is simply God's Word!

IMPORTANT RECALL NOTICE
Author Unknown

Vital For Your Health and Well-being!

The maker of all human beings is recalling all units manufactured,
regardless of make or year, due to the serious defect in the primary
and central component or heart.
