Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello my friends, my grateful gals and positive pals! Hope your day is going well. We are having a beautiful day - and enjoying every bit of it! It was fun texting Lori today while in New Orleans. It was hot there she said, 85 out. Her plane leaves now, she will be home late so Ollie stays here another night. She says it's a 2 hour flight to Mpls. then another hour and a half home by car. There are five people she's with including her and she is driving. Praying for you all - thanks for your posts which mean so much to me!! Keep them coming!!

Your spirit is divine, but your personality is human. As you purify your

personality

you will begin to achieve a happiness of which you could not imagine. Lord,

teach

me to think, speak, and live right so that I may come to know You more and

more.

Scripture for the day:

Meditation for the day:

We can strive for a union between our purposes in life and God's purposes.

There is not bond of union on earth to compare with the union between us and

God. Priceless beyond all earth's rewards is that union. In merging our

heart and mind with God's, a oneness of purpose results, which only those

who experience it can even dimly realize. That oneness of purpose puts us

in harmony with God and with all others who are trying to do God's will.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may become attuned to the will of God. I pray that I may be

in harmony with those around me.

Grandparent's Prayer

Good Saint Ann and Saint Joachim, parents of Mary and grandparents to Jesus,

be with me and all grandparents that we may be wise and loving, may share

our time and stories and sense of humor, and may enjoy and not spoil too

much the grandchildren who are close to our hearts, for they are the sign of

God's life to us.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, be with our grandchildren and all other

grandchildren that they may love and respect their grandparents and all

older people, may remember to call, visit or write, and grow in wisdom, age

Cindy waited 34 long years and stayed in the marriage. She gave it her

all, and waited for her husband to come around. He was emotionally

unavailable. He dropped dead from a heart attack last month. Bye-bye

to that hope. Sam is 58 years old. There's been a hole in his heart as

big as all outdoors for 56 of those years, wanting his father who

disappeared when he was two. Dianne has been looking for someone to

come into her life for many years. A partner and lover. She is old

now. It may not happen.

Have you ever longed for something you've never had? Something money

can't buy? Maybe a good relationship with your mother or father, or

your kids. Perhaps you would really like a relationship that is now

impossible, because that person has died.

You can be sad about something you never had. You can grieve something

you never will have. But can you lose something you never had?

One thing you could never lose - even if you wanted to - the

unconditional love that God your Father has for you. Never. No way!

Not possible to lose that; it's there for ever and ever. It's just for

you.

The LOVE that GOD has for YOU is not, and never could be, something

you never had. It's been there all of your life. Even before.And it

will be after.

Just ask him to show you. He will!

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings, thank

you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many who are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as

possible, thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising, thank you, Lord, that I

have the strength to rise. There are many who are bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost,

toast is burned and tempers are short, my children are so loud, thank you,

Lord, for my family. There are many who are lonely

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in

magazines and the menu is at times unbalanced, thank you, Lord, for the food

we have. There are many who are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous, thank you, Lord,for

the opportunity to work. There are many who have no job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my

circumstances were not so modest, thank you, Lord, for life.

The Ten Most Wanted People

The one who tries to be the right example to every child, rather than talk

about it.

The one who has a passion to help, rather than a passion to be helped.

The one who is willing to say, "I was wrong, I'm sorry."

The one who will look at temptation squarely and say, "No."

The one who puts God's business above any other.

The one who throws oneself totally into a project, then give the credit for

its success to his helpers.

The one who has a ready smile and a pat on the back for others.

The one who brings his children to church rather than sending them.

The one who can see his own faults before he sees the faults of others.

The one who gives his money, time and talent without thought of return.

Prayer For Strength and Wisdom

Lord,

Give me strength and wisdom

to live this day as I ought.

Give me strength...

to overcome every temptation which may come to me,

to do well every task which is assigned to me,

to shoulder every responsibility which is laid upon my shoulders.

Give me wisdom...

to know when to speak and when to keep silent,

to know when to act and when to refrain from action,

to know when to speak my mind and when to hold my peace.

THE WOODPECKER STORY

As my husband and I were working inside, we heard something hit the

window. Looking out and seeing nothing, we stepped outside and there

on the front porch was the still body of a woodpecker -- a beautiful

yellow-bellied sapsucker. He had flown into the window, and, we

presumed, broken his neck. My husband picked him up for a moment and

stroked the red cap

on his head and laid him back down.

Just then, I saw an eye blink. I was holding a utility cloth in my

hand, and I picked him up and covered him, all but his head. His heart

was racing wildly, and I felt just a twitch of his foot. I realized

that this now helpless creature, if only knocked out, could revive at

any moment and

give me quite a pecking.

Instinctive caution urged me to leave the bird there and hope he would

come around, and that was my plan, that is, until I saw the neighbor's

big black cat approaching in his most stealthy stalking mode.

I took the bird inside and found a box with a lid -- if he revived and

got loose in the house he probably would kill himself trying to get

out.

I placed the bird-in-the- box in a quiet place and went about my work.

About half an hour later, I walked close enough to the box to detect

any activity, but there was none. Then my husband came in and spoke to

me. Suddenly, there was scratching and a flurry inside the box that

made me fear the lid would not remain closed.

We took the box outside, and carefully began to open the lid. As it

opened an inch or so, the bird burst out and flew vigorously away to

resume his place in God's grand scheme of things.

As I saw that cat approaching earlier, I remembered 1 Peter 5:8: "Be

sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring

lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour"

That little bird, in his natural healthy state, would never fall prey

to the cat, but he was knocked out.

My thoughts went back 34 years to a time in my life when I was

spiritually "knocked out," I was dead in my sin and as helpless to

ward off the attacks of the enemy of my soul as that little bird lying

on my porch.

Then a wonderful, loving Savior reached down and picked me up. He

sheltered me and let me know I was loved and protected -- I only

needed to trust Him. He didn't put me in a box, but he gave me

strength and the desire to "vigorously fly away" spiritually to take

my place in His

wonderful design for my life in His kingdom.

A Prayer To Spend the Day Well

My dear and sweet Mother Mary, Co-redemptrix of the human race, keep me in

your holy protection. Guard my mind, my heart and my senses, that I be not

stained by sin.

Sanctify my thoughts, desires, words, and actions, that I may please you and

your Jesus, my God, and gain paradise with you. Jesus and Mary, give me Your

most holy blessing. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the

Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessings ladies. I no longer feel safe on any other thread. God will watch over me as always. I wish you all a day filled with blessings. I will no longer talk about my health. It is what it is. God will take care of it. Something I needed to get out.

Gloria, what are you going to put up veggies for your harvest? The price of food is going up and we need to put up as much as possible. I read that food will continue to increase in price.

Hello To All!

I was watching a movie "Out of Africa" a favorite of mine for the beautiful location, costumes and especially the musical scores. In the movie (at the beginning) the main character is thankful for a good friend - he showed her the grandness and loveliness of nature and the world around her. She believed he was a gift and a blessing. I also believe that some people are gifts to us in their many ways. They come and go as we have needed them. Those that stay bless us with love, or growth, or teach us strength.

I give thanks daily and appreciation as well for this nation, her citizens, her allies, her troops, her many blessings of liberties, privileges, and freedoms. Know that all are loved, be at peace.

Good Tuesday Morning Ladies:

I have been dropping by here and visiting two other threads that were my comfort during this difficult (to say the least) time. The ladies on all these threads were overwhelmingly supportive, kind and caring (just like here). However, sometimes we occasionally come across someone (either here or in real life) who may tend to make a mockery of what is going on in anyone's life who may need more than the usual comforting at the time. I am trying to ignore this situation, and everyone here and in the other threads have made my visits worthwhile even while I try to discount someone else.

Cakers.....your post to me the other day summed it up perfectly regarding "the road I will have to travel". Lots of bumps, twists and turns, but as long as I can get to my destination at the end of the road, which would be just some slight form of happiness, then it will all be worthwhile.

Gloriajean........I loved your story about the Cub Scounts. Like masque I was involved with my son in the Cub Scouts as an Assistant Den Mother. Lots of fun, but a great deal of time spent trying to figure out how to keep these boys occupied!

Sending a big thank you and a hello to everyone for your kindness and continuing caring.

{{{shorelady}}} It's a difficult time for you and when we have no experience with a particular situation, in your case the loss of your beloved husband, we can't see beyond the loss. And that's ok. But eventually your initial response to your loss will slowly lose it's edge and you will be able to ride the ever changing waves of life with more peace of mind, being able to let go of how you perceive things as you need them to be rather than as they are. Your memories - happy, sad, peaceful - put them up there like photographs of your life and eventually you will see that all of them have made you. I admire your ability to share and I've read the other threads. I completely understand.

Bobbiesue - you are always safe here and don't even think otherwise, ya hear? We all love you and care for you. I have no idea why you feel that way, but you are most welcomed here, you know that. I freeze the vegetables, can the tomatoes into spaghetti sauces, tomato basil soup, even some barbeque sauce which turned out great last year. The kale and collard I chopped up and froze in bags with one cup each. Raspberries and straweberries too, froze in bags one cup each.

Harlene - I was wondering about how your foot is lately? Hope it's much much better.

esmeraldagrooch - Thanks for posting and reading here, welcome to the thread!! Are you esme for short? Do come again.

Love Roses - that sounds like a very good movie and interesting. I've never seen it. Thanks for sharing about it and the blessings it gives.

shorelady - Sorry you found some mockery going on, I haven't been following the threads, only this one, which I put all my energy into. Here you will never find mockery. Just give it to God and He will take care of it, and warm your heart. That is so true as He is capable of the impossible. This should be a safe place for all to be - in God's hands.

Bobbisue ... There is a quotation that says: "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a gift from God, and that is why they call it the Present." I often use this quote with friends and relatives who are going through difficult times.

As gloriajean has said you are always welcome here ... and I have to say on other threads too. We all care about you and continue to be supportive of the health concerns you have had and may have now. So, hopefully the dust will clear very soon, and you will be able to return pronto, perhaps today. In the meantime, take each day as it comes and live one day at a time. (((((Hugs)))))

One of my favorite Bible verses is from I Corinthians 13:13. "... And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love."

Why is love the greatest? I like this explanation. "Love is the greatest because faith and hope are human. God is love."
