Just as predicted, 2Q growth was the highest in years, making up for the cold, miserable 1Q weather.

When food prices go down then I will be happy. I buy organic and gluten free and it is taking its toll as I am sure it is with others. Not trying to be s Debbie downer..

I know that in our area food prices have gone through the roof. And, correct me if I'm wrong, this doesn't figure in to the consumer price index? I worry about people who are trying to feed their kids and the elderly on fixed incomes.

The banks are regulated by the Fed. The amount of interest on accounts or how much money they can lend out is based off of how much money is allowed them, which is based off of the health of the economy. Greedy banks are made up mostly of underpaid employees. You want to be mad, be mad at the heads and the shareholders. And that across party lines.

You're not a DD, just a realist.

But although your body must have gluten-free, organic is most times much more expensive, and only some can afford it on a regular basis. Couldn't you just get non-organic produce until the prices actually do decrease to what you can really afford?

I think the banks are trying to make up for all the bail out $$ they got and are being greedy with interest rates.

We're not retired yet and not on a fixed income but we're afraid to spend money because we're trying to save for retirement. We put 15% of his paycheck into investments each payday and we save an additional 10% but we still feel like we're spinning our wheels.

Thanks feline that is good advice. I have taken to shopping around and sticking to my budget.

Thanks. I wasn't sure that the paltry interest on a savings account was a federal regulation.

I often think how unfortunate - and mostly, arrogant - it is that that luxuries have become necessities. That many people refuse to 'lower' their everyday standard of living or their lifestyle, even a tad, in order to live how they feel entitled to or feel they deserve.

Entitlement seems to be an ever-increasing issue in our society.
