The information below is given as an educational effort because knowledge is power, and that knowledge can save others, as well as save our treasured beloved pets.

Haddie you posted this underneath my original post:

I can not believe people could abuse animals like this. We have a sweet dog that had been abused as a puppy and she still hides at any raised voice. But, I have to say this is hilarious

I am glad you found my original post to be hilarious Haddie....well I doubt you would be laughing if you experienced what others have in the internet postings I included below.....Ignorance is no excuse for blatant stupidity, because intentional stupidity invites attacks and death, but knowledge saves lives and cruelty as well as various forms of abuse to animals.

I only report what I know are proven well known publicized facts.

I have had pets including small and large breeds of different dogs for over 50 years. I grew up with large breeds and early on was taught that abused dogs can kill their owners. I also learned early on to place food down and walk away and not go back until the dog was no where near the food bowl. I also learned not to ever try to take anything away from a dog's mouth, or from a dog even if it is a play toy.

I was also warned to always adhere to safe handling rules by Guard Dog Professional trainers, when I attended pro education, training, handling, classes for both of my doberman guard dogs. (Because any dog can kill and maim).

Just know any living creature is capable of killing any abuser, including an abusive owner. It is not a premeditated action, it is called canine aggression and is a natural learned instinct for self preservation which is survival of the fittest.

As noted below dogs attack and kill for various reasons, including genetic inbreeding which may not be visible until that attack mode behavior is enacted and then the dog is evaluated for a variety of known issues.

Also as a responsible dog owner I learned early on to never say never........”My dog would never do that”........”My dog would never hurt anyone”.....”My dog does not bite”.......”You can pet my dog he/she will not harm you". “You can feed my dog from your hand”. 'My dog does not need a leash or harness".

“No human being really knows what damage their sweet lovable dog can or will do, because even the most loving docile pets can momentarily snap for any reason, or no reason or provocation at all, and ultimately become a threat to their owners and others......so never say never.

“If people truly love their pets it is their job to safeguard them well from all dangerous non predictable situations if at all possible”.

Below is a small listing of internet information relative to dog abuse from owners and their deaths, dogs and owner deaths without provocation, various dog attacks, various dog abuse situations, how to safeguard against dog attacks, why dogs kill , wolf hybrid dog kills and eats owners sleeping son, etc.

Abused Dog kills owner:

http://www.news24.com/World/News/Abused-dog-kills-owner-20110612?Bangkok

A golden retriever mauled its Thai master to death after allegedly enduring years of abuse, media reports said on Sunday. Mana Tesrit, 51, died in hospital on Saturday after being savaged by his three-year-old dog at his home in Sattahip district of Chonburi province, 120 kilometres east of Bangkok, The Nation newspaper reported. Mana's wife Sompong Rodkhlam told police that the dog, named Peter, may have attacked her husband because he had kicked and abused it since it was a puppy.

Fatal Dog Attacks

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_dog_attacks_in_the_United_States?http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/every-dangerous-dog-dangerous-owner-3161911?

Dogs that kill are a terrible tragedy – but it’s humans to blame, not our pets.

http://thestir.cafemom.com/in_the_news/146782/woman_mauled_to_death_by

Woman Mauled to Death by Her Pet Bullmastiff Is Chilling Reminder of the Truth About ALL Dog. The couple's new dog, who weighed about 140 pounds, had attacked her neck and killed her. This story is a very sad one because Brown clearly loved dogs and never could have imagined being killed by one. It's downright horrifying to think a beloved pet could turn on us like this. But it's also a grim reminder that no matter how well we think we know our dogs, they are still animals capable of great hurt.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/7212727.stm

Dog kills owner in horror attack
A 78-year-old man has died hours after being mauled by his Rottweiler dog as he lay on an east London street.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/15/dawn-brown-killed-by-family-dog-mastiff-illinois_n_2139793.html

Dawn Brown Killed By Family Dog, Husband Comes Home To Find Her Dead In Illinois

http://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk

Dog rips head off family pet in attack like something from a horror film.

http://dogbitelaw.com/dog-bite-statistics/the-breeds-most-likely-to-kill.html

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/forum.read?mnr=491710-wolf-hybrid-hybred-kills-eats-owners-sleeping-son

Wolf Hybrid (Hybred) kills, eats owner's sleeping son

http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2011/06/29/pair-pleads-not-guilty-in-childs-mauling-death/
<h1 class="title">Attorney: No Proof Dog Who Mauled Boy Was Wolf Hybrid</h1>

The Breeds Most Likely to Kill

http://www.dogsbite.org/legislating-dangerous-dogs-state-by-state.php?gclid=CjwKEAjwjN2eBRDbyPWl0JLY5lYSJACPo0UiMy26-xKz7RH2zfQ6tIsfVgNXeBUNVtl4w_9281_gLhoCmObw_wcB

(From dogbites.org)
In the 9-year period from 2005 to 2013, pit bulls killed 176 Americans and accounted for 62% of the total recorded deaths (283). Combined, pit bulls and Rottweilers accounted for 74% of these deaths.

http://www.friendsofthedog.co.za/why-a-dog-would-kill-its-owner.html

WHY A DOG WOULD KILL ITS OWNER
A dog that kills a person is a build up over a lengthy period of time and finally triggered by human postures or sounds which simulates negative reinforcements of the past; the last straw that broke the camel’s back. There is no such thing as “the dog attacked for no reason”; there is always a reason, or reasons.

Any dog without appropriate socialization with ignorant owners in an unstimulating environment is the breeding ground for canine “criminals”.

I believe there is enough information above to really educate, especially anyone still in denial or believing my original post was humorous, , and it is up to humans to safeguard their animals at all times.

"As loving pet owners and human beings we should all acquire the necessary wisdom, knowledge, and power to protect our pets because we are their leader and they look to us for their safe survival, respect, love, nurturing, offering food and liquids, offering shelter against the elements, offering companionship, and leadership".

“All these above attributes go hand in hand, and if properly loved protected and cared for our pets will lay down their lives to defend us, and give us years of devoted respect, love, companionship, protection, and joy”.

Hitting a pet is a practice that I don't believe in at all.Yesterday a friend of mine dog ran out in the street after another dog was almost hit by a car and she spanked her dog so hard that he could hardly walk for awhile it makes me see red when somebody does that to their pet and I also don't believe in spraying your cat with water in a bottle to me both of these are just plain cruel.

Pain, fear and intimidation are all forms of abuse. Not sure why anyone would want to treat an animal they choose to bring into their life that way.

Spanking??! The fact that this poor dog could barely walk sounds like it was more of a beating to me.

Out of curiosity did you say anything to your friend?

If it was me I would have approached this woman (I could care less if she was a friend) while she was hitting her dog in order to bring a stop to her heinous and cruel actions ASAP. I have no doubt that this was not the first time she has hit this precious dog either.

I despise animal abuse as well as those who abuse them.

-----------------------------------------------------

All of my children have paws =^..^=

I agree with beastielove--I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut. Any person who gives that severe a punishment to an animal would be no friend of mine...I don't need those kinds of people in my life.

At the grocery store yesterday, when I went to my car, it must have been at least 110-120 degrees inside. I had seen a dog in a car and I realized it had been in there for at least 15-20 minutes -the window was cracked a few inches but the dog was panting hard and getting down on the floor. I went back inside and had the store manager make an announcement over the intercom for a person with a certain kind of car to come to the customer service desk. I told the manager to tell the person if they didn't immediately do something about the dog, someone was going to call the police. But just as she made the announcement I saw a woman go to the car and leave. If I could have gotten out fast enough to follow her, I would have ... not sure what I would have done though. Any kind of mistreatment of an animal makes my blood boil!

Just reading your post brought tears to my eyes, CatLover2.

I agree, I'd never be able to stand by and watch that abuse.

She better stop abusing that dog or one day they may find her with her throat ripped out while she sleeps.

Many an abusive owner has been killed by beating and abusing their dogs.

Even a small dog can do quite a bit of damage. Their teeth may be small but are needle sharp.

Someone should report this woman and she should be heavily fined, since this canine abuse is probably is a habit with her, and not an isolated incident.

That poor dog should be taken away and given the opportunity to find a loving new owner who will treat the dog well with love, respect, caring, and make the dog feel as though he is wanted and belongs, and is part of the pack.

I have 2 professionally trained Doberman guard dogs, who I love and respect, and I would never ever raise my hands to them. They obey without question to hand and voice commands, and also to eye gestures. They are loyal, part of my pack as I am their leader, and they are extremely intuitive, and smart.

Certain breeds command more respect, but I believe all breeds large or small should command respect.

If the leader of the pack is respected the dog will lay his life down to defend the leader, if the leader of the pack is abusive the dog may also become vicious through no fault of its own.

Reading that email upset me so much. I can't abide a person who abuses an animal. It's one thing to correct a dog (in a humane, proper manner) but it's another to beat a dog to the point where it can not walk. That person should not have an animal. I would not have been able to keep quiet. What kind of a life does that dog have when it is inside the house?? It's so stressful just thinking about it. Why was her dog running free without a cable or lease? We are humans and are suppose to have the bigger brains. You have to learn to work with the dog's instincts and brain. I swear......if that's how they treat their pet, how do they treat another human being?

I hope you made this statement to make a point and do not really believe what you posted. While dogs have been known to react to the abuser during the incident, they do not have the capacity to plot and wait to inflect revenge. Let alone plan a murder.

We have a sweet dog that had been abused as a puppy and she still hides at any raised voice. But, I have to say this is hilarious ...

As long as it is done in moderation and in a training manner and not a teasing manner. But, I have seen people abuse this cutting up just to tease the cat. That is abuse. Peace.

Someone who beats her dog as.harshly as the OP posted should be reported to animal control. I don't hit my dogs because it does no good. They only learn fear.

That is abuse, and if she did that in front of you, no telling what she does when no one is around. Sorry, I really feel you need to report her. I would be tempted to kidnap the dog and find it a good home.

This is a friend of yours that did this? I would give them a piece of my mind and end our friendship right on the spot. I don't care how long we'd been friends or if we were good friends. I simply refuse to be around people like that. Period. And I would consider reporting them also. Of course I'd probably want to scoop up the dog and take him home with me and get him away from that person since they obviously can't control their anger.
