I close the door when I use the BR but when we had our dog she would lie on the rug in the BR while I took a bath. I would flick water in her face and she would lick it off her nose. As soon as I stood up to get out she would get up and leave - she would be waiting for me in the bedroom.

For those of you that have dogs and/or cats, do they follow you to the bathroom? It was a thought I was pondering this morning because mine does, and so did the dog I had before, so I figured I cannot be alone. My puppy is quite humorous, even if she is sleeping or otherwise occupied, once she sees me get up to use the bathroom she follows me. Sometimes she is satisfied to know where I am and leaves, but other times she wants to stay there with me, and I have to tell her to get out. In the morning when I shower, she is constantly checking on me, sticking her head inside the shower curtain to investigate, and a bath is next to impossible unless I put her in her crate because she thinks she should be able to join me. Even my old, sweet dog would follow us around to the bathroom and sit all 60 pounds of himself outside the bathroom door, often blocking us in. We would have to knock on the door from the inside and gently shove it open to get him to move. What is it about our fur babies? Are they being protective or just curious?

Yes! And Hi, Jules The 10 month old kitty follows us all into the bathroom. Unless we latch it, she sticks her arms under the door or between the door and the frame to open it. She'll also stand and use her body weight to push it open.

When anyone starts the shower, it's like an alarm goes off for her, she wants to come in with us. She checks on us several times in there, too. Sometimes I get out of the shower and she's sitting on the top-down toilet seat, waiting for me.

My little dog follows me everywhere. I have a Chihuahua and I wasn't a fan of small dogs but I took it from my daughter. I used to babysit him on days my daughter worked a long day and he ended up liking it better here. He would whine by the door when she took him back home so he is mine now.

Little dogs are so much different than big dogs which I have always had. He is so jealous, if the cat comes near me he jumps on my lap to be closer to my face. When I have had my grandson here and I was holding him he jumped on the couch and jumped right on my grandson who I was holding in my arms and laid down right on top of him. He wasn't mean to him at all, he just wants to be closer physically to me than anyone else. I need to watch the Dog Whisperer to find out how to handle this. I think they are a naturally high strung and jealous breed but this dog is ridiculous. I love him so much though, I spoil the heck out of him and he probably needs doggie therapy! lol.. Anywhere I go I have to watch my feet so I don't accidentally step on him because he is ALWAYS right behind me.

When I go to put my shoes on he runs around in circles around me barking his head off because he wants to go with me.

My cat on the other hand, I think she is still pi$ $ed that we live here too.

Our last girl, Lizzy who is now passed could be what appeared to be sound asleep. As soon as one of us went into the bathroom, she would come in and it was if she was saying "Oh, there you are" and then go back and lay down again. Rarely did she ever stay in there. It was just like she wanted to "know" where one of us was.

Nice thread.

Hi Jules,

You are not alone....my pup follows me everywhere.

When I use the bathroom, she follows me in, waits for me and follows me to the next destination.

Like tansy, I am rarely without an animal monitor.
