Hi does anyone have a dog with diabetes?

I have dachshunds but they do not have diabetes. I think some fellow posters have dogs with diabetes. How old is your dog?

She is 14.

Have you had a vet check her and she has diabetes?

Or pre-diabetes, where with lifestyle modifications, actual full-on diabetes could be prevented?

I'm not on the board much but always looking. I had a dog w/diabetes at one time & had to give him shots 2x a day. He did fine for many years

My mother had a dachshund with diabetes that got shots 2x a day also. He had shots for about four years, then passed in his sleep. He was ten.

He was as stubborn as they come. He'd only let my father give him shots. My father had a couple hospital stays, so my mother had to take the dog to the vet 2x a day to get the shots.
