Turkey devonshire

Is this a Pittsburgh thing or is it more of an American food ? I never thought of it as a Pittsburgh dish but on one of our local TV stations they are saying it is unique to the burgh.

No doubt we do have very unique sandwiches here but I never thought turkey devonshire was one of them. It is a piece of toast placed in a casserole, then cooked crispy bacon(or turkey bacon) then slices of turkey then a cheese sauce ( i always use welsh rarebit sauce) then some paprika sprinkled on top and cook in the oven about 20 to 30 min. So good!

My Mom always made this in the summer when she had a lot of tomatoes from the garden and would serve it with a lettuce and tomato salad on the side.

I saw them making it on WQED cooks - a great local show - and they said it was from their WQED cooks cookbook called What Pittsburgh eats. My mom rarely made this but when I was in nursing school they had it in the cafeteria often.

</ Yes, sounds like a Kentucky Hot Brown......my Mom and I use have it for lunch at a cafe when we were shopping years ago......it was good.

Sounds a lot like a KY Hot Brown. Although I think the KY HB has ham instead of bacon, right?
