Need your support i think

Ok this maybe a weird post but here goes. In Sept my oldest niece and I are heading to Disney World. Can't wait. We will be celebrating my life I am cancer free from breast cancer. We both share the same interest as far as riding rides but I am not sure about Expedition Everett's at Animal Kingdom. It is her favorite ride. I love Test Track.I know I shouldn't be scared but I am. I build up anxiety and it stops me from riding certain rides. Can anyone offers any suggestions. I guess I should be saying Heck you best the biggest fear a person can have. Thanks for taking the time to reply. You all are great. I laugh when I read all the hair comments since I have very little due to chemo. Thank your lucky stars you have this problem.

crazered: So glad you are cancer free, first of all. As far as the anxiety about certain rides, I haven't seen those so I can't envision what they are like. Just try to go without focusing on only the rides you are afraid of; I think once you get there and just enjoy your life with your niece the anxiety will take a back seat to the fun you will be having.

Congratulations!!!! You deserve a trip to Disney World and anything else your heart desires. Hope you make wonderful memories with your niece! Haven't been since '75 so I can't help with any info, but I did want to congratulate you on your victory.

Congrats, I've ridden that ride, no problem and I have been taught when dealing with the anxiety-when you are afraid of something, that's exactly where you should go to get rid of the fear. Millions ride that attraction, you can too. Good luck and have a good time.

It's not that bad. I rode it first time in Dec. 2012. My sweet daughter, she's now 20, sorta tricked me into getting on it as I'm not a BIG coaster fan, especially like at Busch Gardens etc. She said, Oh Mom, its like between Goofy's Barnstormer (now something else, not sure since refurb what it's called) small coaster in what was Toon Town . . . .and Big Thunder Mountain a little more intense but not bad in Adventure Land . . . both in Magic Kingdom. So I thought what the heck . . . everything was OK on Expedition Everest until we got to the point where the train of cars stopped on the hill . . . and I looked at her . . . and she SMILED. Still it wasn't that bad . . . I still regret NOT getting a tshirt one year @ Busch Gardens that was cool design with "Crybabies Don't Ride" . . . and they had some pretty big coasters that NO I did not ride . . . they had a similar themed design at the gift shop @ Expedition Everest but it was an ugly light grey and design wasn't as nice so I didn't buy it.

Unless you really, really don't like coasters . . . it isn't THAT bad. Much worse at Busch Gardens or Islands of Adventure over at Universal . . . now those I do not ride.

HAVE FUN and glad to hear you are cancer free!!! Enjoy your trip!!! September will be a GREAT time of year to go.

I brought my 70 year old aunt to Disneyworld 10 years ago. She was apprehensive about the rides too.

We were waiting in line at the Tower of Terror and a little girl ahead of us was getting a little frantic. My aunt turned to her and said that Mickey Mouse would NEVER make a ride that wouldn't be fun for everyone - and by the time the ride ends, she'll want to go on it again!. The little girl calmed down and my aunt started believing it too.

We ended up going on Tower of Terror 4 times!

You didn't say how old your niece is, hopefully she's old enough to understand "on this trip" you might not be up to all rides. If there's a possibility that down the road she'll go there again, maybe at that time, she can go on any rides that you aren't quite up to. Maybe if she knows this at the get-go it'll be easier for her and you.

My suggestion: stop thinking about it before you get there. You'll know when you arrive whether or not you're up to it. Just focus on the reason why you are going and what a great celebration it should be rather than racking up anxiety over one single ride.

Don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. You'll have a better time...before, during and after.

You all have so many GREAT suggestions. My niece is 49. She loves this rides and says you know. I wouldn't tell you something just to make you ride it. My son said the same thing. I am going to focus on having a good time and hopefully will ride it. Life is good

My aunt was a two time cancer survivor and usually timid on rides, but not at Disneyworld.

You have been through a LOT worse than a Disney ride...they are all pretty tame, IMO.

Just try it. You'll love it!!!

I'm a big baby when it comes to rides and I did Expedition Everest and it wasn't that bad at all. Disney doesn't make really scary rides that go upside down and have steep plunges. Their rides are more "theme". Don't worry too much ahead of time. Write down on a piece of paper that you'll tackle whether or not to go on the ride when you get there. If you start getting anxious remind yourself what you wrote on the piece of paper and it'll calm you down. It isn't worth it to get worked up ahead of time. And, Disney is about enjoying yourself. You shouldn't let the thought of going on rides torment you ahead of time, you're an adult and you'll decide what you want to ride on. Your niece can ride alone as many do at Disney if you don't want to go on. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

If you don't want to ride it--don't. Tell her ""I'll hold your purse for you."" And find a comfy place to people watch.

I would take time and let your niece ride her favorite ride a time or two and you can sit out awhile and rest or vice versa. I haven't been to Disney World in probably 30 years but I always thought the rides were rather lame. I remember the anticipation of Space Mountain (is it even still there???) and was so disappointed. Perhaps they cater a bit more to the thrill seekers now but years ago, I don't think they did.

hi-first & most imortant i want to congratulate you on being cancer free. that's great. & i think it's wonderful that you & your niece are going to disney world together to celebrate. i know nothing about the rides there, however being you said you like some rides, & since you rode the biggest, toughest, hardest, & most scarey ride of your life ever, in my opinion, i think you'll be able to handle any of the rides disney has to offer. i don't think you should dwell about any of the rides until you actually arrive @ disney with your niece & once you get in that theme park atmosphere i think any 2nd thoughts you might have had about any of the rides will be long gone. especially when you realize the reason why you both are there. please understand i'm in no way telling you to go on any ride you're not comfortable going on, i'm just saying i think you'll be fine on all the rides, because i think you're a very, head strong woman. battling cancer is no easy fight. it takes every ounce of your inner sole out of you. like i wrote earlier, you fought your hardest battle ever. you sound like a tough cookie. so just go & have a great time with your niece & go on the rides your comfortable with again lot's of luck on being cancer free. my best wishes to you.
