What do you call your mother-in-law?

And what does your daughter-in-law call you?

Just wondering. I call M-I-L nothing, as she will never be "mom" to me (she never liked me from day 1), and my brother-in-law thinks she will have an attack if I call her by her first name.

First MIL i was still young, in my 20's - i called her both Mom and by her 1st name interchangebly. My current MIL (not actually married to s/o) - i call her by her 1st name and we have a very open & good relationship. I've been lucky w/ MILs.

No daughter- or son-in-law, but my s/o's son calls me by my first name and also his "bonus Mom" .

My MIL wanted me to call her Mom. I could not, so never called her anything.

Our DIL calls us by our first names when she is addressing us. (our choice)

I never had a MIL Both my husbands lost their Moms at a young age. I had a FIL from my first marriage and I called him Mr D.... He never asked me to call him anything else so I just went with that. My stepchildren's spouses call me by my first name.

I call my in-laws Mom and Dad.

If my mom is there, I'll call my MIL by her first name to distinguish them.

I called her mom.....

My DIL calls me grandma....or by my first name....she has never called me mom....though we have a good relationship.......

I called my M-I_L by her first name and my hubby calls my parents by their first names

I called my MIL Mrs..... I have 5 daughters-in-law and they all call me by my first name or Nannie which is perfectly fine with me.

My MIL is deceased, but I used to just call her by her first name.

My MIL died shortly after I met my husband. I never knew her. My DIL calls me by my first name. And my husband calls my mom by her first name. I think this is the way to go.

I called my MIL Mom, she has been gone about 12 years now, and is missed. I wasn't a fan of my FIL, so was polite, but rarely addressed him by a name.

My 3 DIL's call me Mom, and now Grandma also. As long as they call me that's all I care about!!

I never called her anything.

She told me to call her "mom" when she heard me referring to her as "Mrs. _____".

When I spoke of her, I called her "Mrs. _____".

My SIL and DIL's call me by my first name or Nana.

When my DH and I were dating, his parents wanted me to call them by their first names. I felt a little uncomfortable doing that (dunno why) so I called them Mrs. Joyce and Mr. John. I now call them Mom and Dad. They truly are like parents to me. My DH always called my parents by their first name.

Most of my frequently used names for my MIL would not survive the poofer. She wanted "Nana" when my first child was born, so that's who she was. I regret to this day that I never had a decent MIL.

I call my mother in-law Denise because, that is her name. We get along wonderfully I adore my in laws and I feel very blessed we love each other so much!

I call her by her first name, all the grandchildren call her Nana. Mom is a special name reserved for my mother only. I never got along too well with my MIL and neither did her son, my husband. Unfortunately she was recently diagnosed with lung cancer that now has spread to her brain. Hospice is already involved. I visit quite often and my husband almost every day. Nothing from the past is ever brought up. It is a very sad situation right now for all of us.
