A Devastating PSA Reenactment of child left in car

This video is a Public Service Announcement made last year that shows what happens after just 15 minutes to a child left in a locked locked car. This young mother purposely left her baby in the car so she could do a little shopping.

I didn't see this last year. It was recently posted on my facebook feed. I watched with dread and compassion, but not for the stupid mother or the first witness who did nothing. It made cry.

Me either, just hearing what the detective said about how poor Cooper was found sitting in that car seat, made me sick!!!

I knew it was a only a reenactment. But still I'm surprised at myself that I did. I was hoping for a rescue and for the mom to come back in time.

I think it should be mandatory viewing for all new parents. Maybe at the time of car seat purchase?

Isn't it extremely rare that people leave children in hot cars? Mandatory viewing IMO is not necessary as even the dumbest of dumb parents just don't do this.

there were 44 deaths just last year alone and 18% were intentionally left in the car by a parent. What could it hurt by having parents educated about this? Maybe at the pediatricians office would be better. But if it saves another 44 deaths or even just one, what would it hurt? You can't say "even the dumbest of dumb parent just don't do this", however. Because, yes, they obviously do.

Pediatricians are dealing with the people who won't vaccinate their children. It would be an excellent idea if merchants who sold the car seats would show the video to the perspective buyers.

This is about making a conscious decision, the wrong decision, to leave your child "only for a few minutes while you run in the store with a short list for some 'quick' shopping. The only for a few minute turned into 15 minutes. And 15 minutes is long enough for hyperthermia to cause death.
