I'm in the metro DC area and I've often seen infomercials on our network channels, mostly on weekends.

Ok, I have to agree with this one. I'll be watching a regular program, and it feels like someone switched the channel to one that goes to all infomercials after a certain time of night.

The first time it happened, I had no clue what was going on. It's annoying!

I get my DC network channels via satellite on DirectTv. The programming is really strange, isn't it? I usually check to see if there's any sports on during the weekend, but it's hours of infomercials. I was really mad when the World Figure Skating Championships were nowhere to be found on the network channels.

Are you referring to something like this? I watch the show White Collar, produced for a cable network. They feature cars from a certain manufacturer. Often during an episode some of the features of the car will be discussed by the two main characters. I call it "filler dialogue" for the sponsor.

I only watch a few weekly tv shows and none of them have infomercials. There are channels that are devoted to these types of products, 24 hours a day but I wouldn't be watching them.
