I don't agree with any of it. Part of it I "might agree" with if it hadn't said "depressed because living in the past". I've been hospitalized and diagnosed with Clinical Depression but I can assure you it had nothing to do with living in my past.

As far as anxious? That is something I can't remember I experienced it has been so long ago. Might have been when I was in the Army back in the late 1950's and early 1960's during some of our "live round shooting and grenade drills". Lot's of noise and ground shaking and seeing "tracer bullets a few inches over your head in night drills", not comforting for sure. And I can assure you that had nothing to do with "looking at the future" as I was more concerned about the "present and not getting shot".

I agree if you don't discount depression not related to the past or something than can be changed.

I agree about the present IF you can boil circumstances down to the absolute now and focus only on that. Most don't live that way, it takes some practice but it works. Living in the now doesn't mean you don't plan.

Like right now, I should be starting dinner but I'm avoiding. Discontent can often be attributed to whatever you are resisting.j Stop resisting, live in the now, and I'm off to start dinner.

Depression is often a medical issue, there can also be a genetic predisposition. The comment about living in the past if you are depressed is ridiculous.

I should add that anxiety can also have a physiological cause.
