Yep. We had it on my husband's HHR. We finally got a card about 2 weeks ago to make an appointment to have it fixed. He's still not called about it.

Got my second recall letter today sent overnight delivery by Fed Ex. The first recall was to check a part on the front axle.....this one today is to replace the driver side airbag module.......my car is a 2014 Chevy Cruze (which I love), but this is getting a little old.....only have 4,000 miles on it.) When I called the service dept. today to set up an appt., the S.A. acted all p.o.'d at me and was heaving a big sigh when I asked for an appt..........wait until I get there, he's going to get a piece of my mind because he acted the same way when I called to get the first recall taken care of......took my car in and THEN they tell me they don't have the part in yet. For this second recall, I'm going to call BEFORE I leave for the appt. and make sure they DO have the part before driving there for nothing.

I got a recall on my '04 chevy malibu max....for the steering column. Good news is, they are giving us BACK the $$ we spent to have that fixed a solid 6 years ago! It wasn't a recall then.

We've been looking for a new car. Now we'll wait. Repair was over $500. Yes, thank you, I'll be happy to deposit that check!

Just saw on my regular network that GE is now recalling cars going back into the 1990's. Think it said 1999 and there are 7 million more of them. This is good for the dealerships mechanics that's for sure and my friend works for one.

Just spoke with my friend and hockey player that is a mechanic for a GM dealer. He told me that over 90% of his work day is spent working on vehicles with a recall. He also said he is working many more hours to help keep up with the amount of them coming into his dealership service department.

One up side of him he said is, after you do enough of them you find all the shortcuts to fix them and that increases the money he can make. They are paid per job and these jobs are given X number of minutes or hours to be fixed. If the book says 45 minutes labor and he can do it in 20 minutes? Gets the same pay and can move on and maybe do 2 in that 45 minute time that GM pays the dealership to fix the vehicle.

Known many mechanics for dealerships for many years and that has always been the way they have gotten paid for the jobs they complete. Some of the shady "dealership mechanics" would take advantage of the vehicles "with a warranty" the following way. They would make sure they didn't go it completely right and the customer would have to bring the vehicle back. The same mechanic would take this vehicle knowing exactly how to fix it in a few minutes and get paid "by the book time" and thus make easy money.

Think about that last paragraph the next time you take your vehicle to a dealership for a repair and especially one that is under warranty. The mechanic knows the dealership will not have to "eat any profits" because the car manufacturer is footing the bill.

Just some info for some that might not know about these types of things.
