I'm reading that he was not mentally ill during the commission of the crime. Do we think he will be found criminally responsible for the killing?

I think there was a 48 hours show highlighting the case a couple weeks back, a few people brought up the issue of his mental stability. (edited by me)

Noel, the trial was suspended for a month or so while he was being evaluated by a panel of shrinks........

I have little doubt he will be convicted of something. If so he will now not be able to serve his time in a mental health facility.

This case reminds me of the OJ trial in so many ways. I just hope the outcome is different.

I agree.

The judge has the reputation of being tough but fair. She did allow him some privacy from the cameras today when OP removed his legs to show how vulnerable he is without his prosthetic legs.

It will be different in that it is the judge who makes the final decision.

I have no idea how the legal system works there so I have no idea what the judgment will be. If it was up to me he'd be locked up and the key thrown away.

I guess I am odd woman out in this...I don't believe he murdered her, I do believe it was accidental. Paranoid people and guns are never a good mix.

I'm just curious what facts are you basing this opinion on? Not a snark. Just wondering.

He didn't know she had gotten up after him, fired through a closed door, without his prostheses on. If he had wanted to kill her, I would think he would have at least put the prostheses on so that if she fought back he could subdue her. Without them he is relatively immobile, slow and clumsy. My dad was a below the knee amputee of one leg, making him more vulnerable, have two amputations make a person that much more so.

The angle of the bullets tells a different story. Also, what kind of burglar comes in through the bathroom window and hides behind the door?

All of his stories about this tragedy make no sense and the forensic evidence doesn't lie.

I guess my thoughts are that with the gun his disability was moot. I mean who fires through a bathroom door without first calling out ""who's in there????""
