For some reason 3% caffeine is what I think decaf is. But I'm not sure. But it's not caffeine free.

I love black coffee and recently started drinking it again in the mornings. If it's after 12:00 noon, then decaf only. The problem is, when I drink decaf in the evenings, I'm up all nite. What's up with that!!? I thought "decaf" meant NO caffeine ... ?

Decaf coffee does still contain some caffeine.

I've also read that decaffeinated beverages are unhealthy compared to caffeinated ones. I can't recall the particulars but I decided to avoid decaf when possible because of what I read.

But I drink a lot over a 24 hour period so I have to sometimes thrown in some decaf to balance it out late at night.

I tried almost every brand of K-cup from every company over a long period of time before realizing and deciding that for me, Gevalia really is the best !

I don't know how much but it has some caffeine. Once I was in the hospital and they let me have decaf coffee with breakfast. Later, when they came to get me for a test, they said they couldn't do it because there is still some caffeine in decaf and the dietary people shouldn't have allowed it.

The removal process is horrible for the coffee and you. It is healthier to drink the real deal, leaded as my GM calls it. Gevalia is AWESOME, but my WM has slashed the coffee section and has more k-cups. I like to fill my own. I will probably be ordering from Gevalia directly for the flavors and price I want!

They can't remove 100% of the caffeine, on average 2 or 3% remains. Which is far, far less than some foods we eat. Like chocolate. I know because I had a heart arrhythmia a while back and I couldn't have any caffeine. I have to have my morning coffee! The doc okayed decaffeinated coffee, 2 small cups a day, even though it had a miniscule amount. I suppose a person could be super duper hyper sensitive to caffeine and even tiny amounts would have an affect.

Yes, like others have said, a small amount of caffeine remains after the decaf. process is over. If I really want a cup of coffee and it's after, say, 4pm, I'll get or make decaf. However, if it's later than that, I'll generally just skip the coffee entirely if I'm not totally yearning for it. Sometimes the smallest amount of caffeine can quite literally keep me up all night long. Not fun. It's only fun if say, you're on a long road trip, or needing to be up later to pack/work/etc. Other than that, if it's just a regular 'ol night and I can't sleep at all, I feel TORTURED!
