I dread the 4TH of July anymore.

The loud firecrackers that sound like bombs will be starting and go off here in the next day or so even after the 4th is over..... I am all for the forth of July festivities and fun, but, too many people abuse the holiday by buying and setting off the illegal fireworks bought usually on Indian reservations here in Washington state.

I do believe the Jersey people can purchase the fireworks in Pa but we don't sell them...odd..

I don't like fireworks, either...too loud and too scary...I stay indoors..just to be safe...

You know what's so crazy? Some of the border states state police confiscate the fireworks once they get over the state line. I've often wondered how this places stay in business.

Illegal fireworks are just a fact of life, accept it and get over it. You can't change it. It starts here a month before the holiday and continues for a week after the holiday. People here drive up to N H to get them, where it's legal. The police can't stay on top of it, they do try. Every year someone loses fingers or an eye but that doesn't deter people.

I live in western Pa. and right this minute it sounds like bombs are being set off. This neighborhood has some how got their hands on fireworks. they go over to Ohio and buy them plus around here they set up tents and sell them. I just got a notice in the mail that I can order them . Now are they going to be allowed to ship them to my home. Not that I would ever order them. I don't need someone lose a part of their body in my yard.

I hate it too. Another reason fro people to booze it up and our idiot neighbors will shoot ILLEGAL fireworks in the field behind us, even though its ILLEGAL in PA to do so. And they will do it after 10PM even though my husband goes to bed at 9 and works straight through the holiday wk end. I called the cops last year -they basically did nothing. These neighbors will also shoot off the fireworks ALL SUMMER long too. Such is life in hicktown.

They started selling them here today and I just heard one go off.I live in a gated community and they are not allowed, but it's a small community so I can hear them from the surrounding area.

I'm with you, Gazelle. We have to tranquilize our dogs and that only helps just a little bit. Trying to even get them to go outside potty is next to impossible. Even if the fireworks were outlawed, people would buy them at the Indian reservations and still fire them off. The police can't be everywhere. Darn !

Fireworks are especially scary when you live in a place suffering from terrible drought. They closed the road up to the crest of the Sandia Mountains outside Albuquerque this week until we get some rain, due to fire danger. Usually our monsoon season starts sometime in July so we hope it's a good one. Our city has a professional fireworks display which I can see from my patio. They discourage private fireworks but we have people with no sense so there will be some.

Sorry, I won't accept illegal fireworks. All fireworks are illegal in my city but they are sold in the city ten miles away. That city just couldn't pass up the opportunity to cash in even though the state and this area especially are in a severe drought.

We have helicopters and patrol units that have to waste their man hours going after these idiots. Fire stations are on high alert. Our city does put on a fireworks show that can be seen for miles around but folks can't be happy with viewing it. There are heavy fines for the first offense, heavier ones if the sheriff has to come back. Then there are the ones that are illegal in the state.

Sounds like you live in my part of PA. You live in Hicktown. I live in Hooterville. The big illegal fireworks will be going off night after night.

I totally know what you mean. A couple of years ago, we were having a horrible drought, and the neighbors were still doing fireworks. We live on top of a mountain and the wind blows about all the time up here. Even under a burn ban, the morons still do fireworks. I guess it is really worth taking a chance on starting a fire and possibly killing someone to some of these people. I hope you get lots of rain, come monsoon season.

I've been hearing fireworks for the past two weeks.
