I tried E-Harmony. 99% of the guys on there want someone who is in her 20's, blonde, DD's, and a duck bunny.

The one guy that I did start communications with, we agreed to meet, but he was a no-show.

I don't know OP's age. If older, Our Time.

The men not on those dating sites, also generally want ladies in their 20's. These men are 40 and up.

They are generally not looking for a partner/wife, but FWB.

I met my husband (not married but our lives are joined in everything as if we are married) on match.com

it was love at first sight for us both

we have been together almost 3 years and its been a wonderful 3 years.

We both have grown kids and have been married before, we were both ready for an honest and true relationship with no drama.

We both also have elderly parents and we are very supportive of our parents and what they need.

Just be very honest in your profile about your age, pictures and what you are looking for.

I tried Match and Plenty of Fish.

I went on several dates and I had a really nice time on all of them and they claimed they

did too but nobody asked me out on a second date.

They all said I was attractive and nice but I guess that wasn't enough.

I was dissappointed at online dating but some people had good luck with it just not me.

If I were young again, and were interested in a handy man/husband, I'd spend every day and/or weekend in a large home improvement center. Just wander around, and you'll find lots of men (many single) who are interested in improving their homes and/or making cabinets, etc. Carpenters, builders, etc. If you can manage to find an improvement center that caters to builders and contractors, that would be the place! Just pretend that you are interested in starting a project of some kind. You will find many 'helpful' men there. Lots of good luck!

Guys you see in Home Depot are not looking for women. At least not the guys in my family. If they are in HD, they are looking for home improvements, tools and just plain "stuff"..... JMO and I wish you luck IF you ever find a guy in HD......

Oh, I also wanted to say there have been studies where a lot of people find someone through friends. Let your friends know you're looking.

My first real job... all the women were trying to match up a single guy there and asked me if I knew anyone. I was kind of repulsed by the entire idea, but then it hit me. I told him I actually knew the perfect young woman for him, I knew it for sure. I called her, got permission to give him her phone number and the rest is history. They were married in less than a year and had two children. They were together for decades until she died, way too young, of cancer. He loves her still. He and I talk on the phone. He and his wife became my daughter's godparents.

I tried Match and set-up a unique e-mail just for them. Match also owns at least Chemistry and I believe other dating sites. First I started getting spam from chemistry and then after a month I started getting these really sleazy e-mails with scantilly clad women's pictures in them with come-on messages.

I've never gotten that kind of e-mails in any other accounts, ever and still don't. I dumped Match and deleted that e-mail account.

Also, while on match, I specified mileage limits of prospectives. Most of the best matches they provided to me weren't even close to the mileage restrictions. The multiple winks and messages I got in the first couple of weeks that made me decide to buy a membership all came from far away, and not one replied after I bought my membership. Glad I only paid for a month.

Hi Mom! What a nice thing to say! I love them all so much. Our kids grew up together. I got a card from her daughter for Mother's Day, telling me I'm her second mother. I cannot tell you how much that meant to me.

Isn't that the truth? The men I see in Home Depot (mine included), zero in on all the gizmos like a woman would on diamonds at Tiffany's. I don't think they notice another human being when they're in the zone until it's time to check out. But miracles do happen.

How would you know they are single? The men I see at home improvement centers are there to buy supplies for a job. They want to get in and out as fast as possible. Time is money if you are a contractor or carpenter. No one is wandering around looking for a date.

Well........If a gal wants a handy husband, one who maybe is in charge of a building company, and maybe wants a nice house, a 'good life', etc., there are lots of very handsome men roaming around large home improvement centers...........And, if they 'run into' (say you dropped your lumber pieces), someone by accident ), well, just maybe a nice conversation will happen.......Just sayin'............happened to a few of my married girlfriends........ It's all about what type of person you want in your life........Just pick a career, and place yourself in that environment!

Hey, lots of lonely carpenters, contractors, etc. in those stores. Some don't want to pick up a date at bars. Some have lots of potential as far as being a husband and eventual father. Many married men wear wedding rings, so I would go for the ones who aren't wearing rings. That's if I were young and single.........

I don't get the ""looking for a mate"" thing. I think everyone should just live their own lives - do the things you enjoy doing - just get out of the house but do what you like - don't bend yourself over backwards to do things or go places just because you think there are men there. This way if and when you do meet someone they will actually have shared interests with you.

And in case you think I am just way too old fashioned and all - I was widowed at age 30 - i know what it feels like to be alone. But you won't meet the right man pretending to be someone you aren't.
