To those who went through "Sandy" how are things now?

Saw a show on t.v. last night where they were talking about the water and showed some film. What a mess. Thank God I have never been through anything that horrible. I wonder now how things are for those who had to go through that. Can anyone update how things are there now please?

My mother lives in CT. She didn't have the flood problems like was seen in NJ. She had two really large trees fall on her house. It caused substantial damage to the house. The insurance company picked up the entire tab (27k) and made everything easy. My mother was overwhelmed by the number of trades and the time it took. Luckily I had planned a trip there and was able to coordinate everything, then continued by phone.

Bless your heart Gray, I'm sure your mom was so happy you were there to help. How overwhelming that must have been for her. I hope all's complete now and everyone is as back together as they can be.

It's amazing how much damage was done, even 50 or more miles inland. I start to get the dreds every time the end of October rolls around. We were banged in both 2011 ( twice within 2 months) and 2012 from Sandy.

Our house is across the road from the beach. Waves washed through the entire first floor. We were displaced for 9 months. (were able to move back in mid July, 2013) we were lucky as we began rebuilding as soon as possible. Insurance paid for a good chunk. Sand Relief money is/was ridiculous. If we'd had to wait for payment, we'd still be displaced.

Hang on you all - there seems to be a storm trying to form right off the Florida east coast predicted to come up the east coast of the USA this weekend. Friends who live in Hilton Head are keeping an eye on it!
