US Special Olympics

Maybe I've missed reports, but I can't help but wonder why there's been little to no publicity for the US Special Olympics held recently in New Jersey. I just found out that of of my nieces won a Silver medal in golf! I'm so proud of her!!!!!

Anyone else have a friend or relative that participated in this wonderful event?

My neighbor's sister competed in swimming and won a gold, silver and a bronze medal. They were very excited

Thanks, Scottie. I really do wish they event such as this got more publicity. But I guess it's not one of the more popular sporting events.

I saw a report on the Special Olympics on CNN this past weekend. Bless all the wonderful participants, they are all winners!

I'm so glad to hear that!!!! As much as I watch CNN, can't believe I managed to miss that!!!! Thanks! Glad to know there was some press coverage. And you are so right…..they are all winners!!!!

Fox had information about them and one of their hosts of a show participated in much of it.

My nephew.

He won gold, silver and bronze when he competed in the 2011 World Games that were held in Greece.

He didn't compete this year at the summer games. I'm not sure if it was because he is a world champ or didn't qualify or because his mother was head coach of his team for the summer games.

My nephew was in several. When he was 10 he was running with his best friend. His friend fell and dan helped him up and ran with him to the finishing line. When they got to the finishing line he held back so his friend would win. The judges were so impressed that they both won silver metals. One of the judges told him that he had a heart of gold.
