O/T Myrtle Beach SC vs. Wrightsville Beach NC

I would like to try a vacation in one of these two places. I have been to Myrtle Beach but never Wrightsville. Has anyone every been to both and can compare?

My family has vacationed in Myrtle Beach several times, and because our children were young at the time, we chose that area because of the commercialness, and entertainment opportunities. My husband and I rarely go there now, because it is too "busy" for us, and we prefer a quieter beach atmosphere like Holden Beach and Atlantic Beach, NC. While we have never stayed in the Wrightsville area, it does not appear to be as "busy" as Myrtle Beach, and you don't see big high rise motels everywhere. There are plenty of restaurants and shops, but the environment is far more peaceful than Myrtle Beach. At this stage of my life, Wrightsville Beach would be my choice between the 2.

I think Myrtle Beach has more to see and do....especially good if you have children. Wrightsville Beach is more slow paced, compared to Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach (from what I have heard) is a Golfer's Paradise!

If you cannot stand the heat and humidity ....... then I suggest you do not move South! You NEVER get use to it, and the older you get the worse it gets to tolerate it!

I have been to Wrightsville, but has been over 20 yrs. ago, it is very isolated then, but have no idea what it is like now!

Myrtle Beach is in SC, and Wrightsville (Nags Head) in NC, I would say that NC is the cooler of the two!

Wilmington has the most awesome and huge consignment store on the way to Wrightsvile beach!! That alone is worth the trip!

I think Myrtle Beach is too commercialized. I've never been to the other beach you are talking about.

I've lived - and still do live 30 minutes from Wrightsville Beach all my life and it isn't considered to be Nags Head. Nags Head is about 240 miles North , up the coast towards Virginia in an area they call the "Outer Banks"....hope this helps.

Myrtle Beach is a great vacation spot for a lot of activities and fun. I would stay on the South end or the North end though. Stay away from Myrtle beach for lodging.

Lots and Lots of wonderful food, the aquarium is a must see, the sky wheel is awesome. Ride the Banana Boat for a wild ride and The Sea Screamer to see the dolphins. This is just a small portion of things to do or you can just relax and do nothing.
