Someone is opening my QVC packages & keeping them!!

This is very strange I am just putting it out there to see if it has happened to anyone else. My packages have been arriving late - almost 1 week late. They are addressed correctly, but are not coming to my house in a timely fashion. When they do arrive they have been opened, retaped at the top of the bag (always the fashion bag package) and written in black sharpy across the bag is "DELIVERED TO WRONG ADDRESS - OPENED IN ERROR". The first time, I thought ok this was a mistake, but twice more, come on, something's fishy. I check my order status online and it shows delivered, but I get the packages a week later, and opened with the sharpy written on it. I still have not received 2 Isaac scarves that were "delivered to my address" on June 3. I guess whoever is opening my packages liked the scarves and are keeping them. I talked to customer service and all they can do is send another package out to me, but that stinks because sooner or later that cost has to be absorbed by us, the customers. Today I am bringing my opened packages to the post office supervisor and see if they have anything to say about it. I have absolutely no problems with receiving my other mail and my mailman is very diligent - we know him on a first name basis. Maybe I need a PO Box. ??? Very strange and kind of creepy that someone is opening MY packages!

Maybe have to sign for it? One of my packages was lost? I called CS and got full credit. I really think USPS lost it.

Where is your mailbox? Can you see it from your house?

It sounds like there might be somebody at the local post office who is pilfering. S/he is probably scanning the parcels as delivered, then taking them home and opening them to see if they are anything s/he wants. Then, if not, the person is putting them back out there by marking them 'delivered to wrong address' so that they end up getting to you.

I'm only guessing. But that's what the evidence presented would indicate to me.

would any of your neighbors be inclined to take them off your porch...snoop in them...and then drop them on your porch....are you at work when your items are delivered...leaving them vulnerable to anyone passing by...I am not sure if the Q. will deliver to a P.O. box..I could be wrong about that....

signing for packages is a pain for sure....but that might be your only choice....

Do you have a work address where things could be shipped? I do this and it works really well. As you mentioned, getting a PO box is another possibility.

cb has a very good suggestion and a real possibility. Going to the post office supervisor and alerting them is a good idea. Let your mailman know too, I'm sure he won't appreciate it either. Let us know.

You definitely have to work with the P.O. on this. It sounds like someone might be taking them out of your mailbox or off your porch. They keep what they want and put what they don't want back in the mail. You might try having he P.O. hold your packages for you or requesting that the mailman ring your bell when he has a package.

Yes, oh my! This was my first thought, too. I would do just as chickenbutt and Mama Mia has suggested!

You need to contact the postal inspector. There should be a contact number in the US Government pages of your phone book.

An update: I spoke to my mailman today and he told me that the supervisor at the PO is aware that this has happened several times to me and he is keeping on top of the situation. The mailman told me that these packages were delivered to the wrong address on his day off. And he got them back for redelivery to me with the tape and marker on them. He seemed distressed that this was happening and thought they were delivered to my house # but a different street. He wants the tracking # from me that QVC posts on the order screen. He said he can track which postman delivered the packages.

My first thought was someone at the PO and I think even after talking to the mailman it is probably the PO - don't know if he's covering someone's butt, it still smells fishy.

BTW - my mailbox is inside our fence and I can see it from the house - very short walk from the front door. We are retired and home most of the time. We live in a beach community where the neighbors have been here for generations (although we've only purchased our house last year).

Yes! It just happened to me recently. My pkg was small flat white envelope. It has been slightly torn at top & product was missing. I contacted CS..They said post office had not notified them of an opened pkg. I know the people who work dirently in my PO, & don't think for 1 min it was them. I had received this on Sat. when my PO was closed, so I did take the pkg back to PO & let the postmaster know about it. When I received the next pkg, it was in a larger heavier brown paper bag pkg.

well that is something I should have thought of...I live in an apartment complex...and I have the same address as the person across the way on a different street...same apartment...fortunately nothing has ever been opened...

he has received some of my mail and packages and I have received some of his....started happening when our old mailman retired and the new ""filler"" mail people have made a mess of our deliveries....

actually we never know when the delivery will be...showing up as late is 6pm....some days...

I hope this gets resolved for you...I am glad the post office is working with you....

Sears swears they delivered something to me that I never received and they would never totally take it off my card. They took part of the money off. Crazy! But people do steal packages. I've seen it on tv.

It's good that you contacted the post office and that they will be monitoring the situation. When placing orders, you could also request that a signature be required for delivery. That may be inconvenient for you, but at least you could guarantee receipt of your packages.
