I would wait until my child had gone through puberty and then seek major help from medical experts in this specialty. I would take all input from my child very, very seriously. I would not consider it a "mental' problem in the sense that my child was deranged or mentally ill in any way. </P> <P>I look as Chaz Bono as an example. He knew at a very young age that something wasn't right. Cher had a hard time with it, but she loved her child and wanted happiness in life for him. As far as I know, he is happy as a man and engaged to a woman, after many years of struggle. I don't consider this a "choice" any more than I consider anyone in the L*GBT community "choosing" what gender he/she wants to be. He/she is born this way. I don't think anyone would "choose" to live such a difficult life. </P> <P>I would totally support my child. Only he/she could possibly know what it feels like to not be in touch with their own body and mind or know their own identity. As I said, I would seek the support of the experts on this issue.
