Daily Positive Thread for Pentecost Sunday

Hello my friends! Tomorrow is the Feast of Pentecost! Big celebration in our Church! We celebrate when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles and it's in Acts 2. Today was a bit chilly out, Linus worked - sold some appliances which make him feel great!! But got an email from a friend who says her husband had a stroke, he's at the Vet's hospital here in town. We've known them as long as we're married, even before. He will be 80 in July. I called her then, and we talked - she said he'll never drive again, one leg doesn't seem to have any feeling in it, his arm is better now, but he'll have physical therapy. His name is Al, and she is Carol. She said she'll have to be his caretaker now.

When your mind takes you to places you don't want to go, you have

the power to bring yourself back. Lord, strengthen my ability to focus

on that which I am experiencing now so that I will truly live and lose

none of the time You have given to me.

Scripture for the day:

Meditation for the day:

We can constantly live in preparation for something better to come.

All of life can be a preparation for something better. We can

anticipate the morning to come. We can feel, in the night of sorrow,

that understanding joy that tells of confident expectation of better

things to come. "Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with

the morning." We can know that God has something better in store for

us, as long as we are making ourselves ready for it. Our life in this

world can be a training for a better life to come.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that when life is over, I may enjoy eternal life with God. I

pray that I may make this life a preparation for a better life to

come.

Prayer for Peace to Mary, the Light of Hope

Immaculate Heart of Mary, help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so

easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose

immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to

block the paths toward the future.

From famine and war, deliver us.

From nuclear war, from incalculable self destruction, from every kind of

war, deliver us.

From sins against human life from its very beginning, deliver us.

From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God,

COPING WITH STRESS

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a

glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers

called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends

on how long you try to hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.

In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the

heavier it becomes."

He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we

carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes

increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and

restbefore holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on

with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down.

Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens

you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can."

So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you right

now. Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.

Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the

statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat

them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the

middle of it.

* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their

maker.

* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was

probably worth it.

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply be kind to

others.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you

won't have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* The second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the

world to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once .

* We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty

and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different

colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Hello To All!

Wow Gloria, you sure do make real friends for life! You've mentioned you know people for many years and today that is something not often found or expected. Your life is a testimony to others with your loyalty to your good friends.

My blessings are both small and large. I purchased something for my backyard that pleases me to look at when I pass by and see it. Enjoyed being taken out to lunch and to the store to pick up a few things. I am grateful for the good health I have and for my husband. Both cats are healthy and we are a happy home. Read nice words from a spiritual book reminding me of something I take for granted or overlook.

To all, know you are loved. Be at peace. My best and highest thoughts for your prayer requests.

Yes, I agree with Love Roses, Gloria. You have wonderful friends and I am very sorry to hear about your friend Al having a stroke. It sounds, like with a good support system, hopefully he will recover.

Many blessings and praying for the intentions of all who post here. I making my first trip out of the house today since I was diagnosed with this kidney infection. Good health is paramount in life and all the riches in the world can never give it to you. I thank God for medications today that were never available years ago.

Love Roses - It's nice to have something you like for your backyard to look at. Thanks be to God for your good health!! Our friends for life were in a small town and we didn't move that far away to keep them. It sure makes a difference if you move away and don't see them anymore.

Serenity - Al might get his strength back in his leg with PT, he's in a walker now - but did I say he's going to be 80 in July! Carol believes he won't drive anymore. In showing my ignorance, Serenity, what's the difference between kidney infection and bladder infection? I had the same meds for my bladder infection many years ago that you are taking, and now that I'm taking two capsules of cranberry pills a day, I notice the difference. My pill bottle comes from the Food Co-op we go to, all organic foods, and it even says to take it 3 times a day, but I do 2, with the Zinc to kill the virus for the plantars wart which is in me for 12 years!!!

Hi Gloria! You asked about the difference between a kidney infection and a bladder infection. A kidney infection is the result of a bladder infection or UTI traveling and going into the kidneys. There are some very unpleasant symptoms and a high fever. My doctor said I have pyelonephritis and will have to be on the antibiotics for two weeks. The problem with a kidney infection is they can damage your kidneys and you can go into sepsis if they aren't treated promptly.

Have you seen a podiatrist, Gloria? There is a type of therapy which is a chemotherapy drug I had injected into my plantar wart a few years ago. It completely rid me of it. A podiatrist also would check to make sure that there is no infection... I hope you see one and get this taken care of.

Serenity - a few years ago I did see one, and found out we were billed the whole amount because Medicare won't pay for plantar's warts. So we cannot afford this again, he even did have me come every two weeks and he scraped, and added stuff to it. Finally he froze it, and it hurt alot, and it came right back. So hopefully my NP is now helping by my taking zinc twice a day for getting rid of the virus inside first, and on the foot, theives and oregano essential oils I'm using on it, and my husband does the scraping, it seems to help.

So if it is painful, it is covered. The issue is that your doctor's office CODED it wrong with insufficient information. It has to be submitted with the right code and a lot of offices mess up.

Hello friends i havent been on for awhile because of my illness. I had to have a 2nd ct scan because my first one they could not get the contrast in. I have a MRI tomorrow and i dont know what it feels like but i asked for sedation because its 90 minutes long you cant move a muscle and there is 6 inches between you and the machine. I have no idea what it feels like. So thats why i have been away but i have been away. But i have been reading and praying and thinking of you all! Felicia
