I Got a New Car!

I still can't believe that I did it. Whoa. I certainly did need a new vehicle. My old Nissan is 28 years old, and wasn't reliable anymore.

I was on a website for a local car dealership, and went to the "Used" section, and plugged in "0 - $5,000", to see what, if anything was available. A 2013 Toyota Camery with 11,000 miles on it popped up. Yes, it did sound too good to be true. I'm not that stupid. But, I was also intrigued.

So, next day, I went down and I showed them on their own website, the car that was listed for "$0 - $5,000". At first they couldn't find it on the lot, (uh-huh. Sure they couldn't "find" it). I also test drove a 2005 Ford with 78,000 miles on it. It was nice.

The Toyota was finally "found". The manager was driving it. I told the young sales woman, "If it's good enough for the manager, it's good enough for me."

They wanted to finance me at 7.99%. I got it down to 4.99%

The manager wanted to sell me different packages.

I told him, "I'm ready to take the car, as is, right now, and drive off the lot." And I meant it too.

I also told him that I had a budget that I had to stick to, and $300 a month was what I was budgeted for. I was able to get that.

So, now, I'm the proud owner of a 2013 Toyota Camery, that has only 11,200 miles on it.

For the rest of the day, I was kind of in shock. I couldn't believe that I had actually bought a car! Eeeek!

But, the truth is, I needed a new car.

So, I know I'm "unAmerican", or "unpatriotic" or whatever for buying an import, or some other such nonsense. But, what was important to me was price, and reliability. I did not want something that had over 100,000 miles on it. I did not want something that was 10 years old, or older, and I had a certain price range in mind. So, unless someone is buying me a vehicle, (and I don't see that happening, ever) then I think that I should be able to buy the vehicle that best suits me.

My new car has power everything on it. I'm still learning all the bells and whistles on it. It is soooo much different than my old truck, which my dad has, so that he can run small errends, such as going to church, the grocery store, get his hair cut, to the bank.

So, yea me. I bought myself a new car!

When buying a used car there is no difference in weather or not it is an American car. I am glad to hear you are enjoying it.

Yuban3 - congratulations on her new car and let me say, well done on your other Nissan - that was one heck of a life span for a car.

I started leasing Nissans in 1996. I took a break for a couple of years and then bought the next one, a Versa in 2010.

I have an older 99 Camaro and the Nissan Versa. You have to buy what you can afford and get the most value for the $.

Yuban, that price sounds too good to be true. Did you have it thoroughly inspected by an independent mechanic? Where I live you couldn't get a 2003 Toyota for that money.

Have fun with your new car. Toyota are great cars. My Sienna has 145,000 miles on it without any problems. Knock on wood.

Here is a link to a story that says in 2013 Camry was the most American made car, beating out the Ford F-150.

Wow, that sounds like you made a great deal.

And Toyotas are made in the USA, so I don't see what's "unpatriotic" about owning one.

That concerned me also. While I'm thrilled for Yuban's new car purchase, I hope she got a great one. That price for a 2013 with only 11,000 miles on it concerns me.
