Is he really the father? I read somewhere he was of the other persuasion and he was forced into marriage to produce an heir/heiress, and to squash the rumors. I never understood why so many were in such awe of his mother. JMO.

I don't think the princess was very happy to be marrying him, but I hope he has been a loving husband, and she is happy with her impending motherhood. Haven't seen much about them since their wedding.

He has two or three illegitimate kids. This one is the only heir.

Those are just that...rumors. It amazes me the trash that people accept as fact simply because someone decided to write it on the internet or in some tabloid.

He's 56 y/o and a jerk (I "thought" he was close to my DH's age). With his 3 illegitimate kids, the Princess had to be NUTS to marry/procreate w/ him.

I think his wife expecting her first. It's his third. He fathered at least two other children. Since they are illegitimate, they can not be in line for the throne. But legally they are supported by him. And they will inherit some portion of his personal fortune. That's a cool billion.

That's what I was wondering - his age. I thought he was fairly old for just now having a first heir, but then I didn't even realize he had married, much less that there were possibly issues with his bride. I watched the Monaco Grand Prix last week and I heard them say "Princess" when Lewis Hamilton was awarded his second place trophy, but thought it was a daughter of Prince Rainier (sp?), not Albert's wife.
