Yes he was! I remember him on The Johnny Carson show and all the wonderful stories he told.

I miss that man!

I'll never forget his apperances on Carson, especially his tribute poem to his dog Beau. It still makes me sob hearing it.

He was more than mentioned. He was profiled and lauded, along with photos of his military achievements

Always a favorite of mine, he was a very special and honorable man, and a WW2 hero.

Receiving the French Croix de Guerre with Palm in 1944.

believe he was born and raised in Indiana, Pa. about 27 miles from my home town. His father had a hardware store there, and it still had a sign in the window stating, etc.

Truly fine man man; he never forgot the old values he had been brought up with. It's hard to see how he fit in with the Hollywood bunch; truly intelligent.

My favorite Jimmy Stewart movie was "Harvey". I think about that, and it brings a smile to my face.
