Samsung has what I consider the best of the curved TV sets that I have seen to date. I visited my friends Electronics Store and looked at that and LG. The only one's they had in stock at the time were 55" and they were also of the 4K variety.

I really can't see spending the extra bucks for no more than it added to the viewing and as for the 4K? Heck very few of the programming now is even in 1080p and I will more than likely be long gone before 4K ever goes main stream. Heck I had LaserDiscs in the mid 1980's, some of which look exactly like a CD/DVD and look how long it took for a CD than DVD to go main stream.

Then came HDTV and people said, huh? My eyes are just fine and I don't need that good a picture to enjoy my TV shows.

Just a few of my comments since electronics have been one of my passions since the 1950's so take it for what it's worth to you.

For me there is a midpoint. Nobody, and I mean nobody will ever be able to stay of the very top of the electronic technology. It was hard in the earlier decades to get the "best of the best" but no comparison to today's technological field. There is no such thing as the "top in the market" because many times it can change by the day, or less.

A late friend of mine kept waiting for prices on HDTV to come down and would call me ever so often and ask "what do you think about XYZ TV"? I told him the prices have come way down and the you get a lot more technology for the buck($)than you could a few months of go. He would follow with " I hear Samsung(you add any name)is coming out with. I think I will wait as I don't want to get stuck with an obsolete TV set".

Well, unfortunately he died still waiting for the "best in HDTV" viewing. He was a big baseball fan and I told him how much of the game he was missing by watching it in Standard Definition. Even had him come over and watch on my big screen with Dolby Surround System hooked to it. He loved it. But? Still the same "what if" and this went with him to the end of his life.

With my background in electronics and more particularly in the Audio and Video end of things, I have had so many ask me about things over the years about the "should I", my reply was always you will never stay on top of any electronics device for very long. If you want to enjoy what is now available and it has all the features you feel you will need? Do what you think is best for your life and your budget when it comes to Video/Sound entertainment value.

This is the first I've heard of the new curved screen televisions. Heck, we just finished converting all our tv's to flat screens a year or so ago. The way we did it was to replace each one when the old one bit the dust. I like to get my money's worth out of things like televisions. I don't need the very latest technology. By the time I need to buy a new one, the technology will have improved yet again.

It is suppose to show you more video information and also the feeling I always get when watching hockey on our 110" screen(flat and on wall)coupled with our 7.2 multi-speaker Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Sure puts me more into the action.

I think part of the reason for the curse is also so those sitting more off at an angle can also see more of the video information on the screen. I've seen a couple brands, but they were both only 55" size and our regular DLP is a 60" screen size and these did not impress my by any "immersion factor" because of the curve or clarity.

Right now I am very happy with my 60" DLP for most of our viewing and our front projected 110" for our hockey games and other shows we want to feel super surrounded by video and great audio sounds.

I've seen the commercials and they look cool, I'm sure they are great but I have an awesome JVC flat screen that isn't a year old. It has an amazing picture, and is HDTV and I don't watch enough television to justify getting another so soon, even though the curve thing looks interesting.
