Chopped / Chopped Canada

Is it

A. Ted Allen is that good

B. Dean McDermott is that bad

Watching Chopped and then having Chopped Canada follow is just painful. So, I turn it off which is too bad as it would be interesting to see the foods, etc. But Dean seems like he would rather be ANYWHERE but hosting that show where Ted seems to love everything about his job.

Since I have heard that he is an actor, I am amazed at how "woodenly" he delivers his lines! It is hard to believe...it is THAT bad!

I saw Chopped Canada once...not only were the contestants awful, but Dean was awful, too! The judges were semi-lively but the episode was A BOMB!

I watched it once, that was enough. Dean is very flat. He didn't appear to have much of a personality.

As Maryebrown said, it is A and B. Ted is actually quite educated and accomplished, he's not just a host who likes food whereas Dean McDermott is really just an actor with an interest in food, but he cannot compare to Ted in intelligence and experience.

I watched a bit of Chopped Canada last night for the first time. I didn't even realize that was Dean McDermott!

But in answer to your question, yes Ted Allen is that good and Dean McDermott is that bad! I didn't like the judges either.

Maybe Dean just needs to "gel" as a host or maybe we are just too used to Ted, but I think Ted is better at it too.

Didn't Dean win a celebrity cookoff show on Food Network? Maybe that's how he got the job.

Yes, he did. Haven't seen Chopped Canada, but Ted is a great host. Don't care to see Dean. He used to be good looking, but now he just looks "dirty".

I don't think Dean has the right personality to host a show. Chopped Canada does not hold my attention.

I also only watched one episode for a short time, that was plenty. Dean sure isn't a food show host, it all seemed awkward.

so I caught the show last night.... all I could think of when the camera panned on Dean, was IS HE DRUNK AND HIGH? I never heard what he said as I was trying to see if he was doing the show on drugs... I guess the reality show has not helped his viewer audience see him as a serious host.

Perhaps he would do better in a Po~rn movie or something?

Yes, it was Rachael (Ray) vs. Guy (Fieri) Celebrity Challenge. His competition in the final round was Carnie Wilson. I had no clue "who" Dean was..."Mr." Tori Spelling.
