California Fires

I know we have several posters here that live or have family in or near the fire areas. I read where additional fires have started and that temps. are still rising. Just wanted to see if everyone is doing okay and to let you know we're thinking about and praying for all of you! Please be safe! Check in when you get a chance.

A 700 acre fire started on Tuesday in my hometown, technically the mountain ridge that borders my town. There were about 2000 people who had to be evacuated. As of this morning the fire is 90% contained with no new flare ups. This is my first experience with this type of emergency and it has been emotional to see all the fire trucks, equipment and EMS personnel in this town. Fortunately to my knowledge no structures were burned and no injuries. My heart goes out to everyone who has or is being affected by this.

Now they are saying some of the many fires in San Diego county might actually be arson!! Sickening!!

MomOf4 is this your area? MickD posted something about it and I don't think I've seen her since. Concerned that she might have had to evacuate.

No scottie. We are in Orange County which is just north of San Diego County. MickD is much closer to the fire area I think. They are saying thousands of homes are in danger. I hope she's safe too.

AFWIFE, I have been thinking about you. We get county nixtel alerts so keep hearing about your area. Wasn't sure where you were. Thank goodness that all is well with you!

We reviewed our "to go" list yesterday. It is so hot here it is disgusting. It only cooled down to eighty last night. They are saying on shore flow MIGHT start tomorrow. I sure hope so.

It will be 104 here today but thankfully the wind has finally subsided. I pray this will help the firefighters to get a handle on the fires.

Big cool-down predicted by first part of next week.

We live in the Village so our home was safe. However, the Group Home that I run was right on the edge of the evacuation area. So we were loaded with all of our supplies and ready to head out if we needed to. Luckily the winds shifted and the fire breaks stopped the fire from coming down our hill.

It has been horribly hot and I have been very worried about the firefighters trying to fight it. I have become thin skinned living out here.

Many Many prayers to everyone who is affected.

I saw where one was started by a car fire that caught the side of the road on fire.

The fog is back up here, I hope it makes it down your way to cool things off. That's always a help to the firefighters.

"----" Hope you get good news! Being evacuated is so hard. We kept calling our house hoping that our answering machine would pick up when we were in that situation.

AFWife---Oh, good. didnt want to ask your neighborhood, but glad you are safe. Not sure about your group home. but if each resident could pick a favorite thing to hold and take with them might help. Tramatic for everyone!

We are in the house with all the shutters closed. It only cooled to 80 last night. No one has air conditioning here in this town.

Stay safe everyone and keep us posted. You are all in my thougths
