September......about the Peace Rose

Thanks for posting that picture of the Peace Rose. That rose is especially special to me. My late aunt that was my favorite aunt always had the Peace Rose in her gardens......they were her favorite roses...... And oh my, that fragrance is just the best......

Isn't it gorgeous? I had kind of disappointing results with it last year, and was going to pull it out, but at this time, mine looks kind of scraggly, but has 5 enormous, beautiful blooms! I think it's going to make it.

Oh I hope it does make it. There is no other fragrance like that rose has.

I could never do anything with roses, and have always envied those that can.....

I think sometimes roses like people (LOL) go through a dormant period. At least I sort of look at it that way.

I'm going to try to find a similar Rose tomorrow.......(If I cannot find the 'Peace' locally). We have a very small nursery within walking distance, so I'll try to find a similar yellow. Now I have something to look forward to for tomorrow!

I have a lot of rose bushes, and have totally neglected them all this year! My husband has had a lot of health problems, and surgery last month.

So I had someone else do the pruning...I didn't fertilize them like I usually do. And they look better than ever! Go figure.

Romary, I think if there is a Home Depot near you, they'll have the Peace rose. I got mine there, and I know you can also get it online through Jackson & Perkins.

Peace is one of my favorites. There was one planted by my front door when I bought the place. Some years it has suffered terrible abuse but it just goes on and on. If well cared for, it rewards with a wonderfully fragrant display. It's blooming now.

Nice to hear that I'm not the only one enjoying the Peace rose.

I have other rose bushes, that have tons of smaller blossoms. My Peace bush only has 5 at this time, but they're huge!

My mother loved the Peace Rose. It is so beautiful. I always connect my memory of her to that rose. She also ordered hers from Jackson and Perkins.

It seems the more I "neglect" my roses, the better they do, too!

I only water/fertilize them when we are having a drought or long heat spells. No drought this year, we got 70" of snow, and the rain/showers have been steady for the past month.
