ordered the Joan Rivers Stars & Stripes scarf. received it. Opened the inner plastic bag, checked it and decided I was keeping it. Tossed the QVC mailing bag with the receipt in it on a bench at the foot of the bed. three days later I go to toss the bag in the recycle bin for plastic bags but I pull the Receipt because I don't want my private information left in the bag. I glance at the receipt and discover that while they sent the package to me the receipt inside is for the same item but has someone else's name and address on it. Evidently they put the wrong receipt in the wrong bag. I checked on line and the order number for my scarf had the correct information on it and applicable taxes for my state so they charged me correctly but sent me her receipt with a different order # than my order. To be honest I didn't worry about it because I was charged properly and I was keeping the item. Well, guess what? the other purchaser must have not not noticed that the receipt was not hers and returned the scarf. They have credited me with the return. i threw the receipt that came with my package away never thinking that the other purchaser would return the item without realizing that the receipt was not in her name. So now what should I do?

I'd just enjoy the free scarf and count my blessings. LOL Just kidding. what other kind of advice is there other than to call customer service? What other possible action could OP take other than call CS or do nothing?

The Q sent a rug (a huge rug) to me that was meant for someone else. The name and address label were correct but the receipt in the rug had another persons name. I called CS and the rep told me to keep it. That surprised me. I told her I couldn't do that and I wanted someone to come and pick it up because it weighed a ton. All they are going to,have is my call saying they credited me and shouldn't have and some unknown person saying they returned the same item and did not receive a credit. how are they going to connect these two separate incidents?

------...a big heavy rug! Yes, I would insist that someone come take that away, if I didn't want it. Where I live, if we want our trash service to pick up something that doesn't fit into our tiny little containers, we have to pay an extra fee.

One time, I got two enormous dog beds (think it was from Lands End) that were sent to me in error, and they wanted me to keep them. No.....it will cost me $$$ to dispose of these things. They arranged to pick them up.

On 5/12/2014 ILikeShade said:
On 5/12/2014 KathyPet said: OK but if I call CS and try to explain this I do not know the name of the person who got my receipt. that person is not going to get their credit unless they sent the package back insured. how is CS going to find who the credit really belongs to since I can't tell them? All they are going to,have is my call saying they credited me and shouldn't have and some unknown person saying they returned the same item and did not receive a credit. how are they going to connect these two separate incidents?

The woman who didn't get the credit will call them and complain. Plus no one knows if there are more customers involved. Just because you got her receipt doesn't necessarily mean she got yours.

True. Who knows how many orders were messed up.
