yes, I read the books. Petyr didn't kill him, Lysa did - she poisoned him and then wrote to Cat that she felt that the Lannisters did it and left Kings Landing.

Lysa stated she did it because of Petyr and how she wanted to marry him. I doubt Petyr asked her to do it because of that reason (if the series follows the books, you will soon know why I said that), but I am sure he *whispered* it to cause confusion and chaos - to throw the region into uncertainty.

wow - way to go tyrion!! Perfect - I don't know if it followed the book exactly - but it was darn close (his speech near the end).. And I cannot wait until till that trial by combat happens - next is called Mockingbird, so it isn't then...

it is the week after called The Mountain and the Viper

I'm on the fourth book called A Feast for Crows. I was hoping to stay current with the show but right now they are ahead of me. I really enjoyed tonight's episode, What Tywin doesn't understand is that Tyrion would be a better heir than Jaime. Poor Tommen is an earnest puppet. Somehow I feel he is doomed. I really like Danarys as a strong leader.

chessy, they are only on the 2nd half of the 3rd book - so you are ahead of them!!

Tyrion would be a better heir - I fear he will grow bitter.

I guess Danarys doesn't impress me - I don't know what it is - there are other characters that are more compelling and I like them more than her

I am hoping that the 6th book comes out soon. I really don't know how this series will end and who will "win" that throne in the end. maybe none of them.

Bravo Tyrion!!!.....I loved his speech....and my heart broke for him when Shae betrayed him.

I'm a Tyrion fan too!!....I also like Jon Snow.

I really dislike Petyr.

I keep waiting for Sansa to grow a backbone...she's so wimpish...I want to give her a shake!

Danerys doesn't impress me with her ""I am Kahleesi""...""I am mother of dragons""....""I am your queen""...I am ...I am...I am...she is full of herself.

Wish they showed more of The Hound and Arya

I don't understand/get the White Walkers part of the storyline.

So, in the trial by combat, is that like when Tyrion was at the Eyrie, and asked for Jamie, and then Bronn stepped up?

It would be interesting to see Bronn and Jamie fight for real, instead of training.

If Bronn betrays Tyrion, that might be too much.

Do we think Shae lied from fear of Tywin, or just as a woman scorned?

She is a woman scorned.....Tyrion made her feel like a ho to get her to leave.....she really loved him and thought he loved her....but he did what he did to save her life and couldn't tell her that....it's a tragic love story.

Episode 8 is called The Mountain & the Viper....

Shae is what she is - an opportunist. In the books, she is more practical and doesn't play this love sick jealous woman that they have her play in the TV series. I did not care how they rewrote her character in the TV series. It is really out of character from the books, as she was never a woman scorned and she would never describe herself as such

Bronn is also an opportunist. That was the problem Tyrion has - he surrounded himself by not friends, but opportunists. He bought them originally and they can be bought again.

Thanks...I would never have thought of her as an opportunist the way she was written into the series.....I have the books but haven't read them yet for fear of ruining the series..I like the element of surprise.

I don't think there's anyone on this show who has friends. Everyone seems to have ulterior motives.

Maybe Jon and Sam are friends, but that's about it.

Exactly. Each side could choose someone to fight for him, and whoever won - that would prove him innocent in the eyes of the Gods.

I like Bronn, but he was a sellsword - he'll go where the $$$ is. But I hope he won't betray Tyrion.

It is worse for Tyrion because he has done this his whole life. All Tyrion has is his money - other people have the power or their beauty or a skill that is needed. Once Tyrion no longer has money, he has no one to turn to.

Jaime is probably his only friend
