Update: Our dog has kidney failure

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who offered kind words and advice on our dog.

She went down hill really quickly and on Tuesday we had to put her to sleep. It was so quiet in our house last night and today when I came home from work she was not there to greet me at the door.

On Sunday she quit eating, she could not decide if she wanted to sleep or move from place to place. I managed to get her to sleep with me on the couch Monday night and she settled down for a few hours but Tuesday if was obvious that she was ready to go. My husband came home from work early and we took her to the vet, he was surprised she went down so quickly as well he thought she had a few months left.

My heart and my deepest sympathy goes out to you and your DH on the loss of your beloved dog.

Please find comfort in the fact that she knew how much she was loved,that she was surrounded by that same love when you sent her to The Bridge in peace and with dignity and that she's now happily running like a puppy with all of her new friends thru the sunlit meadows of that most blessed place on the other side of The Bridge.

I just lit a candle for your beloved Phoebe before I came back here to write this.

I can relate to the deep sense of pain,loss and heartache that you're feeling right now as I have been down that same terrible dark road many times before and will be again at some point as I'm currently "Mommy" to five kitties, all of whom I rescued.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet Phoebe and hope that your pain will lessen with each passing day. My Baby Cat has had kidney disease for 3 years and doing very well until recently. Now it has escalated, and I know that my remaining time with her is limited to days...I am struggling with the decision of when. So know that my heart feels your loss, and I will be going down that road with you in a very short time. Take care.

KittymomNC, I am sorry your cat is so ill, enjoy what time you have left with her. I was lucky to be home from work on Tuesday so that I could spend phoebe's last day with her....

I am trying to get used to coming home and not having anyone to greet me.

momtodogs, I am so sorry. I know your Phoebe knew she was loved and safe with you all her days, and she knew nothing but that as you let her go to the bridge. She is happy and running free again... but I know how lonesome and quiet the house can be. Sending you a caring hug and prayers that each day gets a little better and that one day, when the time is right, Phoebe will send another special being your way to ease the pain in your heart.

Thanks again everyone! It's been just 8 days since we lost phoebe, it sure seems longer than that....
