QVC...QVC...QVC!

You said over and over that the plants WIL NOT be shipped until

it is planting time in our areas...

At the moment the heat is on in my house... I need a coat & gloves

to go out side.... There are ice jams on the Lake hindering the Ships.

The Canadians & the Americans are working together to free the ships.

I know because my husband has 2 ships caught in the ice-jams and

yet..... QVC you shipped my plants....

This is PURE Michigan!

They sent me a long eMail telling me what to do if I cannot plant....

From storing in the fridge (bulbs), to finding a sunny spot until it

is warm enough to be planted....

I am NOT amused....

The growing seasons were established a long time ago with the zone charts. They don't change them every year because of an unusually long winter.

I hope you can find a way to keep your stuff alive while you wait for your weather to change.

That's correct. The charts are industry-standard and don't allow for unusually early or unusually late springs. We're also having a late spring in my region, so I know what you're going through right now.

I have to agree, growing seasons are established after collecting years of data. They have nothing to do with the actual weather.

I no longer buy plants from QVC, but when I did I found they would replace or give credit for plants that died.

area..... but with a little homework they can find out the

present day conditions for any State they plan to do

business with...

I guess that's too much trouble Kzeks. With computers now days I can't imagine it would be that difficult.

No snark intended, but that's why I buy plants locally. I buy them when I'm ready to plant them. I'm really not in love with gardening, so I have to make things as easy as possible. I enjoy the finished product, but I don't love the process.

Come to think of it, I'm really more of a pointer.....

Yes, my daughter told me I should wait for the plants show that

is held at the Eastern Market every year...

Like you I am no true member... I buy what is recommended to me,

and have them planted...

Yes, they should have a computerized system that

will prompt them when conditions are favorable

for shipping the plants..

This would save them from returns and extra cost.

Our awful winter killed all the roses that I had from them, plus every

berry tree...

I think they just send out all the plants at the same time, no matter where you live. I know this, because I ordered some plants from QVC a few years ago ( ones I had never seen in local nurseries), and I didn't t get them until May. Spring planting time for us starts in early March.

All of my roses, not from CF, made it despite a brutal winter. The ones that had the greatest winter kill were the new ones I planted last year. A friend of mine lost several roses. She doesn't prevent black spot and her plants were stressed going into the winter season.
