Good Morning, Bird mama.....love the pictures of the different birds...I have never seen a Rose Breasted Grosbeak....pretty little thing.....does the bird in the first post actually have nine legs or are my eyes deceiving me....( I did just wake up...haha...)

As much as I hate to rain on everyones parade....I will be glad when its winter again...I hate all those thunderstorms and tornadoes that happen all spring and summer....

Circles, you are not hallucinating. Sometimes younger birds crowd into their mom's feathers. Everytime I see a picture like that I have to laugh.

Hi Birding Friends, A quick fly by to say hi and that the next post will be from Missouri. I am leaving early in the morning and should be home way before noon. Have been busy with packing and shipping stuff and am dog tired.

Birdmama, Thank you for our new roost. Hard to believe it's May, but then time waits for no one, it just keeps moving on . Cool photos at the top. Funny one with the babies hiding under their momma. Somewhere, in my folders of photos and graphics, I have one of a chicken with a bunch of tiny legs under her too.

Hope to see a Rosebreasted grosebeak when I get home. They used to visit for a short time during Spring migration.

Circles, I am with you on in your dislike of thunderstorm, esp. severe, tornadoes and hail storms. Give me cold weather and my sweatshirts or flannel shirts. I don't like ice storms either, though. Don't like Spring or Summer because of the destruction these storms wreak on so many of our countrymen and women.

Even the birdies are hiding today - really H O T!! That is typical as when it gets horribly hot, they completely disappear until it cools off - usually very very late in the day. Put water back in the bird bath and a few crows have stopped by but bless them, so far they arfe unloading only walnuts in there. LOL. Hope they keep behaving.

Tried to spread some turf builder in the back yard - bad move. Hopefully later today. The front and two side yards are due gopher repellent - it does help but it is not a fix it all for sure. Not sure if I can get that spread this evening as well - to get old is the pits. May try and get some done tomorrow morning also - I do know if you do not do it when you should you lose the battle completely.

Hummers are still very scarce but at least I see one every now and then. Sure hope they come back like they use to. Roses were absolutely gorgeous this year but the blooms are dying out quickly. Suspect the heat has something to do with that. Am trying to keep the dead ones clipped off as it does help and have had a lot of positive comments about them this year. Couple of those bushes really need work so am hoping to get two of them spruced up before much longer - they need the branches cut out that are sickly looking. Cannot think of what you call them - they are an offshoot from the original rose. Don't get old people.

Hi everyone!

Too late, Winifred, I am already there, old, but only in body, not in mind or spirit. It HAS been miserably HOT this week, hasn't it, sleep with the fan blasting away, lol. All I have been able to do this week in the yard is to go out every other evening and water the Hydrangeas, and any other plant which needs water. They do not like the heat. It is supposed to cool off, especially on Sunday, so am planning to get DH and myself out into the garden to dig out volunteers, and begining planting, after spackling the family room baseboards and door molding, so I can paint those next week and finish this room, will it ever happen!

The stucco is to go on this coming week, also the power washing of the house in preparation for paint, so will be noisy. It was pretty quiet this week, so nice.

Hope you have a safe trip, Possumm, and that everyone enjoys the weekend.

Thank you, Bird mama. Hope everyone's having a good week-end so far. We went out shopping early this morning & got it all out the way. We pulled up the driveway and an Eastern Phoebe was sitting on the deck roof..

Last night we had a male Towhee walking about in the back yard. Their colors are so bright & wonderful.

Hi Winifred - take it easy out there. It's kind of cold and blustery here today. I need the wind to dry my lawn out. We had rain earlier so fingers crossed that I will be able to cut my lawn tomorrow for the first time this season.

Hi everyone! I was just in my garden, and heard a lot of crows in the creek area across the road. They then flew overhead and I saw that they were after a Red Tailed Hawk, around and around and around they went, at times touching the hawk, and very close to it at all times, and then flew out of sight. I have never seen this in all of the years I have lived here. I wonder if the hawk had something, or the crows did, and they were fighting over it, guess I will never know, but I don't like to see anything or anyone harassed.

mousie, the hawk may have been too close to the crows nest & their babies- I see that where we are- the crows don't think twice to chase hawks away.

Hi Birding Friends, Made it home in spite of the torrential rains and wild lightning, but 6 hours later than I was supposed to. Mechanical problems with the plane while it was still in Fort Lauderdale, then the Tampa airport stopped operations because of the lightning.

This won't be very long because my keyboard ''died'' last night despite about 2-3 hours oh attempts by ATT and then Dell to fix it. I am using the on screen keyboard and it causes my arm to cramp after a bit.

''My'' catbird is back again this year. They are usually quite secretive, but Catty comes to the feeder and starts calling her 'meow' call which I answer.We go back and forth and she comes quite close and gets on the feeder. She also grabs pieces of dry cat food from my outside kitty's pan.

I need to stop as my right arm is hurting and it takes a lot longer to type this way.

Suzie, it's good to see you here.

I had a male cowbird urging two of their babies on the fence a little while ago.. so funny watching them.. He was very protective.
