How did you & your husband get "engaged" and where'd you go on your honeymoon?

My ring was on the dashboard as a surprise. We were going out.

We went to Niagara Falls.

we were sitting on the floor in the living room after we had finished decorating my Christmas tree and he just took my hand and asked. He already knew the answer because we were already discussing getting married. he wanted to have his Mom's rings reset so he let me pick out the setting myself , which I appreciated. We were married valentines day (yep- 7 week engagement)and went skiing at Wisp, in Maryland for our honeymoon. We were very careful financially with our wedding and honeymoon because we had just ordered a home to be built and that was where all our money was going.

Came home from a very long day at work on a Friday- he asked what were our plans for the week-end and said, "Wanna get married?" Put that gorgeous ring on my finger & that was all she wrote. Took a long week-end in Fontana, NC, a few weeks later.

On I95 heading north. In his convertible with the top down and the radio blasting. He asked and I said (yelled more like it) yes. Honeymoon in Bermuda.

Thought my boyfriend was acting weird when he returned from a 3-day hunting trip, and was bracing myself for him to break up with me. Figured he'd found a younger woman....I was 12 yrs older than him.

Instead, he was just nervous b/c he was getting ready to pop the question on that rainy October Sunday night.

There was no ""engagement"". Our honeymoon? The day after we were married we were in a TV Studio making a commercial for the company that built our 4 Season Patio Room. Somewhere down the road we went to New York City a few times to watch our NY Rangers hockey team play some games at Madison Square Garden and also to New Jersey Arena(don't remember the name at the time but they have since built a new one)to watch them play a Road Game.

We were sitting in the living room and he seemed really excited but I had no idea why. Then he said he had to go get something and reappeared with this little silver box. He had picked the ring out all by himself and I was totally surprised. I had no inkling. We were married on December 30 and spent our honeymoon in Niagara Falls.

Hubby and I went out on a Saturday night for our first date. The next day he went to church with me in the morning and evening. When he took me home that night, (I was 17), he either asked me to marry him or told me he wanted to marry me. Can't remember since that was 1951, but I was stunned because we didn't even know each other. I told him I'd have to think about it, but he gave me a ring on Christmas Eve. I said "yes", but wanted a year so we could get acquainted. We were married a year later, went to Santa Barbara, and up to Sacramento and the bay area for a few days of honeymoon. Were married just shy of 58 years when he went Home in 2010.

He cooked a gourmet seafood dinner for me and I noticed there was a very expensive bottle of French white wine on the table for a Thursday nite. After we cleared the table, I noticed the ring box on my placemat. We had been looking at diamonds, so I knew it probably was coming, but still, it was fantastic. We honeymooned in Hawaii for 2 weeks.

Aww very sweet thread to read. My dh and I got engaged at a nice, fancy restaurant and spent 2 weeks in Hawaii for our honeymoon 35 years ago. It was magical. (still is! )

My husband proposed to me at a Giant's game during halftime. Our picture was also on the big screen when one of his friends [my husbands friends who went with us to the game with other couples] Told who was ever in charge that we were engaged and they showed us in a loving kiss and hug it was one of the happiest days of my life, except for the birth of my two daughters Tanya and Libby. We just celebrated 19 years in January!! We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon.

We met in high school and had been dating for nearly 3 years. He asked my dads permission and took my sis with him to pick out the ring. He asked me to marry him and it all was a total surprise. I love my ring and always will. He was 20 and I was 19 when we were married. We both had good jobs. We went to Puerto Rico for our honeymoon. We have been married for 47 years this coming November. We have one daughter who will be 44 this year. Great thread!

We met in college, he graduated and came back for a football weekend .....on Sunday we had a picnic at the lake and after dessert of chocolate cupcakes he said if I ask you to marry me what would you say.......I said ask me and find out.....so he did.....we were married about a year or so later and honeymooned in the Smokey mountains on our way to his job relocation.....
