WHAT'S YOUR PET'S CUTEST MANNERISMS?

Different breeds have different characteristics, but they also all have their own little personalities.

I thought it would be fun to see what peoples' pets do ..... please share one for a pet, past or present.

They do so many cute things, hard to say. I love it when they (cats) tap my arm gently to remind me to pet them. At night we call "c'mon everybody" and all five come on the bed to hang out awhile, then four retire to their room, the guest room and the fifth sleeps in my husband's arms all night, he adores that cat.

Our sweet cocker spaniel taps me with his right (never his left) paw whenever he wants my attention. If he is snuggling in my arms, that right paw must always be on top of my arm, telling me who has the upper hand in this relation ship.

Skippy is a German Pincher who never seems to get enough to eat. At least once a day he goes and gets his empty dinner dish and comes and throws it at my feet ...... Talk about subtle!

Last Spring I took in a stray pregnant kitty, she had her babies in my bedroom, 4 little cuties! I found homes for mama and three of the kittens, but I didn't find one for the little black kitten. Even though she was raised in my house and had plenty of human contact, she is not a cuddly cat so when people came to see her, she would try to get out their arms and I just can't blame people for turning her down. I wish I could've convinced them that she has a snuggly side: When she was 4 weeks old, she literally crawled into my arms and went to sleep and she has done it ever since. She still doesn't like to be picked up or held, but she does like to sleep in my arms!

My male Maine Coon puffs his cheeks when he doesn't get enough attention. It's the funniest looking thing. It's like he's holding his breath like a child!

Everything our early generation bengal cat did was weird!

1. When we got him as a kitten, he would be a terror at dinnertime (even though he was fed at the same time 3 feet away on the floor). He'd jump in our laps, our shoulders, scream and whine. Finally one night, I served him at the table and he was fine. He had very good table manners.

2. Rocko also had a "good morning" routine. We'd babytalk to him and he'd prance and bang his head into the wall, stretch, yawn, and fall over as if to say "I am SOOOO cute!".

3. Bengals like high places, so it wasn't unusual to be "ambushed" when passing by the walkway behind our sofa. He'd streak across the room, jump on the sofa, leap onto my shoulder and land on the 6 ft. bookcase (all while I was moving). Called him "circus cat".

4. Lest I get banned, let's just say he also had an unsuccessful love affair with a cotton chenille blanket and my right leg even though he was neutered at 5 months.

My kitty Cookie does so many cute things but one I love is in the morning if she wants me to get up she crawls up my body and plops down on my chest very close to my face and starts giving me little kisses.14lbs of kitty plopped on my chest,lol

These pics are too cute. So are the stories here! Animals are such funny creatures! My pets have lots of quirks. A few are how our dog pouts and looks at the wall when he is mad with us. He won't look at us. He also always eats a bowl of dog food to power up before his walk. He knows when that is like clockwork. It's funny how smart they are! And if a stranger comes into my home he will stand in front of me and try to block them and he's HUGE lol. Finally he settles down after they've been here awhile. Our cat is afraid of thunder and gets low to the ground on his stomach like a snake when it thunders. He also doesn't like to eat unless someone is watching him eat lol.

When we had the earthquake a few weeks ago, the windows rattled and Tom Cat was out the door in a flash. He sat outside near the front door waiting and trying to make sense of what happened. I've never seen such confusion on an animal's face!

For two days he would come in to eat and then went back outside again .... I thought he was still scared, but it occurred to me later that he was feeling subtle "aftershocks".

I don't know if it's special to him or a breed thing, but I adore how my Golden Retriever likes being physically close to me - he's just so sweet and cute. Often when I'm at my desk, he will lay down right beside me so I can reach down and pet him from time to time. Sometimes if he's just standing there, he'll rest his chin on the desk being nosy to see what I'm doing. If he's sitting there, he'll sometimes touch me with his right paw to get noticed. If I'm on the couch, he comes close and rests his head on my lap or sometimes gets his whole body up in my space and lays down on me. If I'm in the recliner, he tries to climb up in my lap and lays his body across me and puts his head on my chest or shoulder....and I melt.

He's learned to sit and wait until given the OK to eat his meals. Poor thing, if he's hungry and I'm slow to let him eat, he starts drooling like a faucet!

In the morning, after he's been fed and out to potty, he comes in, dances around and turns a few circles, then sits politely as he waits for his Dentastick. When I get it out for him, he knows he can't just grab it from my hand. He'll sniff, try to go for it, but then remembers to "leave it" until I say, "Take it nicely" and he gently receives it and runs off to enjoy it.

When we're outside, playing fetch, he makes me laugh. He'll bring the stick or ball back to me several times, but then there are times when he gets a naughty look and almost taunts me with the toy. I'll reach to get it from him and he runs off, comes back, and does it again, until I give him the command to "drop it".

He's such a licker sometimes. When we're on the ground rolling around and playing, he'll attack me with the licks and sometimes I just get weak from all the laughing.

With a couple of the cats we used to have, if they wanted a treat I'd ask, "What do you say?" and they'd meow. I also taught them how to "sit pretty" (on their seat with front paws up, like Keys in post #10)

Omg, Pistolino, that could be the cutest thing Ever! My dog has lots of cute mannerisms, of course. But one thing I love is that when my DH comes home from work, he usually gathers all his toys together in a pile, right near the front door. Sometimes I realize that he's dragged 2 squeakie bones, a tennis ball, and this Kong-type thing, all to the front door. It's like, I'm so excited you're home that I had to get all the other things that make me happy and excited and present them to you!

One of my Maine Coons winks at you. He's done that since he was a tiny kitten. I talk sweetly to him and he stares at me, lowering only one of his eyes. It's so dang cute.

Every last little thing my babies do is precious but I especially love coming home from work. It's as if they havent seen me for days. I tap on the door before coming in and say Mommy is home and the barking and crying begins, then I open the door and they litterally attack me as if i have been gone forever, then we have hugs and kisses. I ask them what they did all day and they both start talking. Jake howls and paws at my face as if to say now listen and Joey doesnt get how to howl, so he just looks at my eyes and barks as if to say oh I missed you and love you. Yep, I have gone to the other side, I love those two so much.

And at one time I was like, I just dont get those weird people and their pets! Now I am the queen of the weird one with my pets

My kitty Rick has been a goof since he was a kitten. He's soon to be 17. When I wake up too late for his liking, he jumps in bed and walks all over me. Sometimes he'll hit me with his paw. He doesn't let up until I get up and get him breakfast. Some nights we don't get much sleep because he starts his routine at 3am.

My big black cat has an old beat up stuffed toy. She doesn't really play with it, but every night she proudly brings it to me and does a hunting yowl. She won't stop until I thank her for the present and tell her what a good girl she is.

The toy is always on the bed with us in the morning too.
