birds on porch problem solved - with this!

found this product on the walmart site and it has worked!!! i put some out a few days ago and no more birds and their little mess all over my porch!

yes it is very sticky! you can't put too much or you could end up with a bird or two stuck! but there is no smell at all.

just enough for them to get it on their little feet and not like it. and you put it wherever the birds are a problem. i had to climb a ladder and put it in the corners of my porch where i saw them and their little mess they left!

Another thing that works really well for us is to put down a rubber snake or two. Works like a charm.

It has a warning to keep out of the reach of children so it's probably harmful to birds. I'd rather put up with the little mess and have birds than take a chance on harming them.

I was thinking that too OR, I bet it is poisonous.

(reminds me of the time my sis had a gecko stick to the fly tape when she lived in Hawaii, her hubby peeled the little guy off but he still died)

I'm sure if the product is made for repelling birds, it will do just that and won't harm them. It's probably designed to make visiting your property a bit unpleasant so they won't be inclined to return.

I would check the internet for product reviews just to be sure.

This stuff is awful. Please read the Amazon reviews. Birds get stuck in it. It can glue their feet to their bodies and they die

You know I have done that, and it worked at first- but eventually the birds get "wise" to it...

I have read that birds do not have a keen sense of smell...

I think it is bad to use anything that could make them suffer... worse than just shooting them and getting it over with in my mind. Please do not use it.

good grief!!!

it does not harm them at all - it is just sooo sticky and messy that they do not want to be bothered with the area anymore.

would you want to keep going to the same spot and getting some kind of sticky goo all over your feet????

Shesallthat, I missed the original thread I guess but have you tried the aluminum strips hanging down? I know it sounds like a pita to get them all up there and maybe even have to moved them if the birds move but something like that?

I havent read the reviews at Amazon but this stuff sounds really cruel...

eta~ I dont think they need to come back more than once to catch the drift, once will probably do them in anyway. Probably be more humane to plink them.

I don't mind the birds but they are not usually on our deck. They hang out in the bushes and trees around the deck or at our bird feeders and bird houses in those trees. (And our deck is closed in with walls and a door but no roof, because we have a hot tub. I hang wash on the deck a lot and no birds ever "go" on my wash.I love watching the birds and often photograph them.

"do them in"!!! such drama.

i put this up last week - once - and not one bird has been STUCK to the ceiling of my porch. of the half dozen that i was having i am sure at least one that would have been. or dropped dead if it was as awful as some of you are trying to make it to be! and with the rain we have had which is when they would take cover under my porch they have not even attempted to come back.

the buildings downtown put those pointy metal spikes in front of their windows and planter boxes- Wish I could figure out a way (besides the rubber snake) to keep them away from my tomatoes!
