Boston Marathon Today

It will be a beautiful and bittersweet day today - please keep everyone in thought and if you can, offer a prayer for everyone today. It's inspiring to see how Boston has risen with hope over despair, but it doesn't surprise me at all. Good luck to all the runners.

Boston is strong and resilient for sure!!!! So many amazing stories came from last year's tragedy. It looks like they will have nice weather, and I wish all the participants a safe and healthy run.

Thanks for the reminder, Cakers. I'm excited as it's a big deal in Boston, but at the same time I'm apprehensive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the extra security will keep the nuts away.

BTW, speaking of the Boston terrorist attacks of last year, I'm going to Jeff Bauman's book signing on Wednesday. He has a new book out that is getting very good reviews and he's been having book signings all over the region. I am in awe of his courage and resilience and decided that I want to support him, his girlfriend and new baby-on-the-way by buying his new book.

Thanks for starting this thread, Cakers! I have friends and relatives who are both running and attending the Marathon. I'm hoping for a record turn out to prove just exactly how Strong Boston is!

I cannot keep up with them. But if there was an example of mind over matter or heart over matter, it's exemplified in this group of runners from Tennessee, who not only wanted to raise money for those affected by the Boston bombings, but deliver it by hand, running all the way. This team of runners from rocky top, Tennessee, is shipping up to Boston, in support of the survivors of last year's Boston marathon bombing.

The message is unity. The message is from Boston to east Tennessee, we may talk a little bit different. But we're one.

The Tennesse Tough group made it yesterday, I believe. One of their group is running in the marathon today. Blessings to them and everyone today for a glorious and safe run or walk. They said they were expecting the largest event ever. Thanks, Cakers!

What a nice gesture! You're right, we are one, and if anyone talks differently, it's Bostonians, LOL.

Oh my gosh. Tears in my eyes as the flag is raised.....and our national anthem is played! Way to go, Meb! (I loved him blessing himself with the sign of the cross as he was about to cross the finish line, too.)

Keflezighi had the names of last year's victims written in marker on the corners of his official runner's bib. The names included the three people killed in last year's marathon and the name of a police officer from MIT who was allegedly killed by the bombing suspect days later.

This brought more tears, emma.
