Thanks for responding back!

I have also noticed the smell of Exquisicat litter has changed - it doesn't smell as much like pine.

My understanding is that Feline Pine makes the litter for Petsmart, also. That is what the manager told me. Feline Pine always seemed to last longer than the Exquisicat, but I think they both dissolve faster now. They have both been "improved".

Oh, well. I will still buy and use. It is just frustrating to me. With as many cats as I have, it is easier for me to not have to dump the litter as often and less expensive. I suppose because I have so many cats, I just noticed it more.

At first I was worried one of my cats may be having a health problem, but I closely monitored everyone and no one seemed to be going excessively. So I believe it is the litter.

So much for improvement!

I have been using both Feline Pine and the Petsmart brand, Exquisicat Pine, for years. Love them both!

However, Petsmart recently reformulated their brand - or so I was told by a store manager. I couldn't get it for about a month.

Now that it is back in the store and I have purchased the new formulated litter, it seems to not last as long as the old litter. The pellets seem to dissolve much faster when the liquid is added by the cats (!) than it used to, so I need to dump it and use the new litter sooner than what I used to.

I assume it is to make the customer buy more litter, so add to their profit line. I had kind of expected them to reduce the amount of litter in the bag and sell it for the same price. Instead, I believe this is happening.

Of course, I will continue to buy it. But still...it is kind of aggravating to have to now buy more litter and change the litter more often.

Has anyone else noticed this or is this all in my head?

I have not used PetSmart's pine litter, but I have been using Feline Pine for over 12 years. Recently it seemed to have disappeared, but it is available again now. It also has been reformulated - the bag says "original" but it is not the same. There is no pine odor, the pellets are a different size, but I have not noticed that it dissolves any faster. I just used it for the 2nd time though, so maybe I just was not paying attention to how long it lasted.
